Well done to the Folkestone Road SPS project team in our Southern Region on winning a Gold Award as part of the Thames Water Project Pride Awards. Mark Taylor (Director of Delivery – London Infra, Thames Water) recently visited site to present the award to the team who had managed to demonstrate their diligence in a broad range of areas, such as traffic and plant management, fire and first aid arrangements and security, to Thames’ gold standard. #ProjectPride #Gold #Award

Creating a legacy by safely delivering infrastructure ambitions from concept to customer
About us
Barhale was formed in 1980 as a specialist tunnelling contractor and grew initially through the successful delivery of projects in the water sector, developing mechanical and electrical capabilities and a fabrication and supply subsidiary, alongside our traditional tunnelling, civil engineering and utilities skills. After 40 years of successful trading Barhale remains a privately owned business working UK-wide across the water, transport and energy sectors. We provide design, construction and maintenance services under long-term contracts with blue-chip public, regulated and private clients. Barhale is a values driven business which forms collaborative relationships. We operate as a tier 1 partner to many of our clients, often working in integrated teams. Seventy per cent of our turnover is in long-term frameworks and half of our operations are in joint ventures with long-term industry partners. Our vision is to be the best at what we do, aiming to be a market leading infrastructure services provider. Our 3 Pillar Sustainability Model defines our mission - to be the safest, most efficient and most responsible partner to our customers, supported by sound systems and processes, talented people and an engaged supply chain.

Barhale and Flannery Plant Hire have teamed up with JCB to host first in-field testing of the equipment manufacturer’s revolutionary hydrogen-powered backhoe loader. The trial took place at Lower Penn, a Severn Trent project on the outskirts of Wolverhampton that includes the construction of a storage tank and a two kilometre pipeline to prevent water spillages into the local watercourse. According to Barhale Site Manager Harley Taylor, the new machine performed well in every task. “The backhoe has been loading muck-away wagons, cleaning up the compound area and moving materials from the storage area over to the work area,” he said. “It’s been giving exactly the same outputs as we would have been expecting from a diesel machine.” Find out more in the video and on our website: https://lnkd.in/ep-QSDbd #Sustainability #OurEnvironment #Hydrogen #NetZero #CarbonReduction #Excavator #Utilities

Mark Rushton (Site Manager, Northern Region) working at our Etruria project for Severn Trent, recently introduced Gemma Banks (Technical Project Administrator) to Emma Shutt, Director at Diamond Families. Diamond Families provide help and support to local children and their families through professional development workshops, parent training programmes and sessions at their Therapeutic Farm and Wellbeing Centre. They run programmes such as holiday clubs, school visits, Weekend Welly Clubs providing lessons in animal care, gardening and planting and Tiny Tots Clubs providing crafts and story activities. Diamond Families also work in partnership with Intuition School, a local independent school facilitating a nurturing education for young people between the ages of 11-16, near to our works. Gemma and Cameron Cooke (Site Apprentice) recently attended the Therapeutic Farm and Wellbeing Centre to donate surplus timber to help with the repair of the animal enclosures. As we progress and expand our work in the area, we are keen to continue our support of the farm, with plans in the coming weeks to fix large animal pens that were damaged in recent storms. LUANA BILLS (Social Impact & Sustainability Manager) comments: “We’re really pleased to see our site teams actively engaging with Barhale’s social impact goals and identifying good causes in and around our capital delivery schemes. Thanks to Mark’s recommendation the team are creating value for the local community alongside delivering critical work for our client and society.” #SocialValue #OurCommunity #Donation

We are incredibly grateful to Walsall Council's Clean & Green team for hosting insightful lunch and learn sessions on the litter issue in our borough and the council’s efforts to combat it through their volunteering programme. During the recent session, our staff gained valuable insights into the environmental impact of litter on our community, environment and wildlife. They learned the dos and don’ts of recycling and were presented with some eye-opening recycling facts and figures. The team also showcased some fascinating items made from recycled materials, including a neck scarf, clipboard, pencil case, and decorative mirror. LUANA BILLS (Social Impact & Sustainability Manager) says: “As the programme’s first corporate partner, Barhale is committed to continuing our community work, embodying our values of #Caring, #Pride, and #TeamSpirit by helping to remove unsightly rubbish and improve our local area for all. This year, Barhale will be participating in the Great British Spring Clean. If you haven’t signed up yet, why not join us and get involved?” #People #Community #Sustainability #EnvironmentalImpact #Recycling #Volunteering #GreatBritishSpringClean
