We've had a great time and learned a lot at INTL. A big thank you to Beth Wilson and James Gilchrist for organising the event. We sent each member of the studio to a different workshop and had them report back their findings. Here are the brief notes: Doug Summers attended "Masterclass on Brand Culture" with MadeBrave. "I thoroughly enjoyed it and got a lot out of it. Here are my top 5 insights from the day." 1. Internal culture is a major foundation block of your brand. 2. A strong brand culture helps you attract and retain good staff. Forward-thinking companies like Patagonia and Lego put effort into crafting an Employer Value Proposition (EVP) and treat it as a key part of brand strategy. 3. Discover your brand purpose. Your organisation has a what and a how; the purpose is the why. 4. Always measure, even with limited resources; find something to track that can give you insight. 5. Brand values often end up as a predictable list of generic terms. Instead, they should be distinctive and specific to the organisation's identity. Emily Peat did the "Press Record workshop with Rectangle, who focus on building tools to structure stores of information, and interfaces to access them. Things I learned: 1. The power of showcasing data, especially in regards to marginalised groups, can be used (within design) as an act of protest. 2. Consider the method of displaying data; this is just as important as the data itself! 3. Methods of digital research, more so the impact of taking different approaches to research (this has already started enriching my design practice!) 4. I'm really bad at coding" William Kelly attended "Designing sustainably with ilka | Certified B Corp" Here are my takeaways and interesting factoids from the workshop: 1. One ChatGPT email uses the equivalent of one bottle of water. 2. Sustainability is very hard to define, but solutions are possible. 3. Using sustainable printing or just shifting to digital is not enough. 4. Amazing sustainable materials, mushroom and seaweed. 5. An overwhelming impending sense of doom." Steve Calderwood attended "Signpainting with Bungo Sign Co" who are a Glasgow-based studio specialising in hand-painted signs, glass gilding, and large-scale typographic murals. It is Scotland's only woman-owned, public-facing sign shop and the first of its kind in the UK. Key takeaways: 1. Getting away from a computer screen is vital: Hands-on sign-writing provided a refreshing break from digital distractions, fostering focus and creativity. 2. Learning a new skill and about new tools: Exploring the craft of sign-writing introduced unique tools and techniques, enriching artistic and technical skills. 3. Never judge a book by its cover: The seemingly simple art of sign-writing revealed its complexity, teaching patience and respect for traditional craftsmanship.

Happy 'Brand for Growth' Participant 👏 "Voiceover Interpreting Services worked with Bold Studio as part of the Brand for Growth project to re-think and refresh our brand identity...Bold were brilliant throughout the whole process-- they were genuinely curious about us as an organisation, our work, our goals and our values. Every member of the team we interacted with was friendly and professional and we couldn't be happier with our new brand identity and outputs that our dedicated designer Emily Peat created for us."    Míša - Voiceover Brand for Growth is part of our Social Impact. Each year we award a select handful of Social Enterprises at a point of change and fund a rebrand they would otherwise be unable to afford. Brand for Growth will be launching again next year. Keep Your Eyes peeled! #designforgood #sustainability #glasgowdesign #branding #socent

With talks from Mel Young MBE President at Homeless World Cup & Paul McNamee UK editor of the Big Issue, as well as many others. Some truly impactful projects on display from Arkbound Foundation and One to One Development Trust We are off to bed. Thanks. #poverty #homelessness #bigissue #streetpapers #designglasgow #INTL #INSP
