It was a great pleasure to work with Peter and the ABHI leading a piece of this work thinking about how the NHS prepares itself now for innovations of the future. Much is of course what it needs to be doing right now to benefit from the advances in diagnostics, automation and AI that are available today. Adopting these and future innovations will support the shift to prevention, personalisation and productivity. It will not be easy and requires a mindset as well as a capability shift. I look forward to trying to implement as many of the recommendations as possible in across the Cambridge University Health Partners.
🚀 Today marks the publication of the Innovation Ecosystem Programme report, commissioned by NHS England and led by Roland Sinker, CEO of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It provides a practical blueprint for streamlining innovation pathways and enabling the NHS to adopt and scale HealthTech effectively. ABHI's Peter Ellingworth had the great privilege of co-chairing the 'Preparing for the NHS of Tomorrow' workstream alongside Dr Kristin Anne Rutter, focusing on the enablers required for access and adoption of innovation. This report sets out clear priorities, from aligning funding and incentives to building workforce capacity and sharing best practices. Together, these actions can ensure HealthTech realises its full potential for patients, the NHS, and the economy. We look forward to supporting the implementation of this work, not least through our ongoing engagement with the Health Innovation Network as we align with the NHS 10-Year Health Plan. Really important Cambridge-led report (link below), from Roland Sinker, Kristin Anne Rutter, Richard Torbett MBE and others, giving practical recommendations on how we can turn the NHS into a better partner for innovators. Better productivity. Better treatments. And if the NHS helps to test a treatment or device, they go to the front of the queue to roll it out to patients, at a lower price. Win, win. Cambridge: open for investment! Last night we convened life science leaders and investors at the Wellcome Collection to meet some of Cambridge's most exciting start-ups, spinouts and science innovators - all ready to scale with the right funding partners. With a series of speed pitches and a drinks reception in a buzzing room set amongst the Being Human exhibition, the evening was closed by Lord Prior, who reflected on Cambridge's rich history of discovery science, adding "with the right human and financial capital investment, there's no reason Cambridge can't be up there with Kendall Square and Silicon Valley". If you are an investor looking to connect with Cambridge's brightest life science propositions, get in touch. Thanks to our partners in this event: Innovate Cambridge, AstraZeneca, Lazard, Babraham Research Campus, Wellcome Sanger Institute, o2h group and Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority.

We are so excited to be part of the team behind the new multi-million pound, 3-year collaboration between multiple Cambridge partners and the government funding agency, ARIA, to develop the next generation of brain health technology. Now the real work starts – this is a call to anyone, from any background, and any location, with a radical idea for brain technology and the plan and know-how to develop it, but who can’t get the support they need to make it happen. Are you one of those original thinkers? Email us here: enquiries@cambridgenetwork.co.uk Thanks to a collaboration of so many of our Cambridge partners and ARIA, our incredible networks and resources could be at your disposal. Our best scientists and clinicians to help you prove your idea works or, frankly, fail-fast and move-on. Our best business and network experts to help you turn it into a company. Entrepreneurs to mentor you to build that company into a global business. This is about putting a giant rocket under radical ideas that aren’t being funded elsewhere, knocking years off the development and growth of new treatments so we can bring them to everyone in the world at an affordable cost. We’re on the BBC: https://lnkd.in/eUq2HQQS Here are details about this unique collaboration. https://lnkd.in/eDw-EsUy

Well, this is exciting…! We’re thrilled to announce that Cambridge University Health Partners (CUHP) is bringing together a Cambridge consortium as an Activation Partner for the Advanced Research + Invention Agency (ARIA)! 🎉 Together with ARIA and a fantastic team of like-minded individuals (see below⬇), we will be working to advance the development of neurotechnologies that will have a lasting, positive impact on patients and the UK economy. Alongside Babraham Research Campus, Cambridge Network, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT), Maxwell Centre, University of Cambridge, Milner Therapeutics Institute, Vellos, and the University of Cambridge (Cambridge Neuroscience, Engineering and Psychiatry), we will work closely with ARIA and Jacques Carolan to unlock ideas, empower talent and support new ventures across their Scalable Neural Interfaces opportunity space. Our programmes will enable scientists, clinicians, and entrepreneurs to collaborate and translate speculative science into practical applications at scale whilst fostering a vibrant UK-wide neurotech community. By pooling the best minds, expertise, and resources, we will ensure that groundbreaking neurotechnologies from across the UK gain the support they need to succeed. This collaboration is also a great example of what we can achieve when we work together across disciplines and organisations – stay tuned! Today, we’re excited to announce a new element to our model – a series of pilot R&D partnerships designed to maximise the impact of the research areas we’re exploring. Selected from a pool of 200 global applicants, our Activation Partners are highly technical and entrepreneurial organisations: pioneers of new science innovation models, community builders, world-leading research labs, and deep-tech-focused accelerators — united in their commitment to turning early-stage R&D into real-world solutions. Our partners will launch a range of new, bespoke activities in the UK across current and emerging opportunity spaces. Our hypothesis is that by injecting more entrepreneurial talent, capital and ideas into our opportunity spaces, we can drive our research – and the UK – towards massive social and economic impact.
