I would like to think and remember today as a watershed moment. Day 2 of the International Civil Aviation Organization International Air Transport Association (IATA) ACI World - Airports Council International Symposium on accessibility in air travel switched from high level discussions to meaningful talks on leveraging on what exists to transform the passenger experience of disabled people travelling by air. It was a privilege to speak in a panel on how technology can improve the journey for people with disabilities alongside Ed Collett, Kirk Goodlet, PhD, IAP, Jefferson Paulo Pereira, and impeccably moderated by Stephanie Cadieux. While plenty remains to be done, key stakeholders engagement is testament that solutions are within arms length.

Today is International Day of Persons with Disabilities! At Motability Operations, we’re proud to support this important day which highlights the rights, achievements, and contributions of disabled people across the globe. To celebrate and as part of PurpleSpace’s Positively Purple campaign, our Bristol and Edinburgh offices were lit up to demonstrate our commitment to creating a more inclusive and accessible society. At our London office, purple stones were handed out to employees, representing the diversity and uniqueness of everyone. We’re also focused on fostering an inclusive workplace where disabled colleagues feel supported and valued. This includes initiatives like our enABLE Employee Network, which ensures employees with disabilities have a voice, and our ongoing commitment to accessible office spaces, including quiet workstations and wellbeing rooms. We’re continually improving with policies like our workplace adjustment process and a new health and wellbeing strategy to better support our teams. Working in partnership with Imperial College London and The Royal Institution, the network will look to help to support early-stage startups tackling the most pressing environmental challenges and speed their solutions to scale. 🔄 The new global network, in partnership with Undaunted: Tackling climate change with innovation, will be made up of 17 members across 5 continents, with plans to expand membership in the coming years.
