As proud members of UWL’s Industrial Consultee Committee for the School of Civil Engineering, we take immense pride in sharing insights from the field. This time, our focus was on ‘Railway Engineering’, an integral part of modern infrastructure. The lecture, explored key principles, challenges, and innovations within the railway sector. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with bright, aspiring engineers and spark discussions about the future of our industry. Our Head of IT, recently had the privilege of visiting Wye secondary school to deliver engaging IT presentations to children. The energy and enthusiasm shown by the young audience were truly heart-warming! From interactive demonstrations to hands-on learning, the students were captivated, eager to explore the possibilities that technology offers. Cleshar had the privilege of collaborating with Brent food bank at Vestry Hall, Neasden Lane, to support the community in a meaningful way. This outreach initiative was not only about providing essential resources but also about creating opportunities for individuals to take the next step in their careers. During the session, we engaged with many promising candidates, offering career advice and showcasing the rewarding paths available in the rail industry. Attendees were given the chance to connect with our team, learn more about what makes a career in rail so fulfilling, and even place their names down to join our ever-expanding workforce. Over the past six months, Cleshar has been working closely with Transport for London and our supply chain partners on the design phase of our Cockfosters depot project. While there have been challenges to overcome, our team has made significant progress and is now well-positioned to hit the ground running as we enter the new year. ✅We commenced on-site work on November 4th, starting with reduced digging and the installation of the piling mat. Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) piling has been selected as the preferred methodology to minimize noise impact on nearby residents. Preparations are in place for piling operations to begin in the first week of December, with all piles set to be installed by mid-January. ✅ With winter fast approaching, we are equipping our staff with essential cold-weather gear, including glove liners, hard hat liners, and Turmel flasks, ensuring their comfort and safety as they carry out their tasks. As always, we remain committed to maintaining high standards of work while minimizing disruption to the surrounding community. As part of the Deep Tube Upgrade Programme (DTUP) on the Piccadilly Line, Cleshar teams have been hard at work preparing for the arrival of new rolling stock. Over the past few months, our teams have successfully reconfigured and replaced Platform End barriers throughout the line, to ensure safe and seamless integration with the new trains. This vital work has been carried out with dedication and precision during weekend possessions and engineering hours. Our dedicated teams have been hard at work for Network Rail in Wessex. During a 52-hour possession, we successfully completed 1.172 km of Category 02 rerailing. In another 52-hour possession, our team delivered 1.71 km of Category 02 rerailing. Across both sites, we ensured the full recovery of scrap rail, and installed new pads, nylons, and clips to maintain the highest standards. Great work, team!
