Author, King’s Cross, has won the 2024 New Homes Award for Best Large Development at the Evening Standard’s New Homes Awards 🏆 The project features three buildings with a community-focused ground floor linking them together, where our team designed a vibrant space with amenities including a lounge, a courtyard kitchen, a coworking area, a residents lounge, a screen room, and a gym with a yoga studio. The judges described the BTR development as "one of the most spectacular regeneration schemes London has seen in years" and praised the way the buildings are arranged around the landscaped courtyard and the high quality of the Conran and Partners-designed interior design. Andy Mytom visits Loughborough University to share insights from the design of the Passivhaus expansion to SportPark with UK Government officials. The Passivhaus standard is known for its rigorous energy efficiency criteria, making it a valuable model for future projects in the UK.
Officials from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (ESNZ) recently visited Loughborough University to explore the University’s expertise in building decarbonisation. During the visit, they toured SportPark Pavilion 4, one of only a few #Passivhaus-certified office buildings in the UK. The space welcomes sports organisations and businesses looking to collaborate with LUSEP’s broader innovation community, as well as the University’s world-leading sport-related research, facilities, performance base, and living lab of athletes. Author King’s Cross has been shortlisted for the AJ Architecture Awards – Housing Project 2024. The development features 218 rental homes designed for Related Argent across three blocks, already 100% occupied since its completion late 2023 with excellent feedback from tenants. Each building has its own identity and is thoughtfully designed to interact with the street and the community garden at its heart. We are happy to announce that Author King’s Cross has been shortlisted for the New London Awards in the Housing category. Related Argent’s first Build-to-Rent scheme, the project combines 218 apartments with commercial units, leisure, and amenity spaces, arranged around a new London Square. The design team helped the client to create a sense of place to draw visitors to the northernmost plot of the King’s Cross Masterplan. The New London Awards 2024 showcases projects that contribute to and enhance NLA’s vision for a New London: a city that is sustainable, civilised and egalitarian, that seeks to improve the quality and standards of new design.
