The 'Backbone of Britain' Goes Electric, thanks to Dorset Chamber members English Ford Poole (Foray Motor Group). Ford’s E-Transit Custom seamlessly blends its iconic design with impressive electric technology, proving that it’s still the top choice in the rapidly evolving world of large electric vans. At first glance, it looks almost identical to the diesel-powered Transit, which makes sense given Transit’s long-standing reputation as the ‘backbone of Britain.’ Underneath, however, the changes are substantial — and they make a real difference. The E-Transit Custom comes with either a 135hp, 217hp or 285hp electric motor, and a battery of 64kWh in capacity. Official range is up to 209 miles, though that will obviously be very dependent not just on driving style but on what load you’re carrying Inside, the E-Transit Custom is familiar yet refined. The shift to an electric setup frees up space in the cab, and the 12-inch Sync 4 infotainment screen is crisp and intuitive. Though we miss physical climate controls, the tech upgrades more than make up for it. Yes, the E-Transit Custom is a little pricier upfront than its diesel counterparts, but lower running costs and competitive finance deals mean it’s a solid investment. With excellent driving comfort and easy access to Ford service centers, it’s hard to imagine a better electric van for the job. Simply put, the E-Transit Custom is still the van to beat. https://lnkd.in/eA2Mw6Hh Big thanks to Ben Clark English Ford, Poole (Foray Motor Group) for the test drive 01202 712136 and New Wave Club for the location. #ev #electricvehicles #branddorset #strongertogether

Important artefacts and shipwreck excavations were on display in Poole for the visit of a local MP. Jessica Toale, MP for Bournemouth West, visited the Maritime Archaeology Sea Trust (MAST) site in Poole to meet with Bournemouth University Archaeology & Anthropology archaeologists to learn more about their work, and the items they have recovered from some of the most important shipwrecks off the south coast. Archaeologists have been working to excavate and preserve finds from shipwrecks such as the Swash Channel Wreck, HMS Invincible, and the 1250 Wreck, with some of the artefacts on display for the local MP. Finds included the grave slabs and Purbeck stone mortars from the 1250 Wreck, which sank off the Dorset coast during the reign of Henry III in the thirteenth century, as well as several ornately carved portions of the Swash Channel Wreck, a 17th Century Dutch vessel.
