We have Secured Nearly Half a Million Pounds to Drive Carbogenics Global Growth! We are thrilled to announce the successful close of our latest funding round, securing just under half a million pounds. This significant milestone reflects the confidence of both existing and new investors in Carbogenics’ mission to revolutionise sustainable solutions. We received funding from our long-standing investors, including Green Angel Ventures, as well as new investment from the United States led by our new venture partners Kaplak Ventures. Chief executive Ed Craig commented “I am incredibly proud of the team for the progress we have made in 2024 across the board and 2025 looks very much like the biggest year for Carbogenics. A new £50m Centre aims to develop the first therapies to stimulate heart repair and regeneration in patients with heart disease. Researchers at the MRC/BHF Centre of Research Excellence in Advanced Cardiac Therapies (REACT), co-led by the Universities of Edinburgh, Oxford and King’s College London, will work closely with the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult and with companies including AstraZeneca, AskBio and Batavia Biosciences to collaborate on tasks such as screening libraries for therapy targets and accessing gene therapy delivery technologies. They will also work with Syncona, a large venture capital firm in London, to drive further investment and progress toward application of the technology in patients. Yesterday, our staff enterprise team hosted Scottish Enterprise and the Maxitope Team for a project kick off meeting and lively discussion of the next steps to build the company, product, and pipeline towards launch in 2025. Maxitope, a startup on the Scottish Enterprise High growth Spinout programme, has developed a promising new way to improve target selection for antibodies and immunotherapies to develop more effective treatments. The team have successfully completed an ICURe program and will be refining their market and customer engagement while building up the team and pipeline.
