“I’m a jack of all trades, master of none…” According to Audrey Morris, one of our Alternative Water Supply Operatives, that’s what she is, but as the rest of that saying goes.. “but oftentimes better than master of one”. Audrey went to catering college but made her way into the water industry via the police where she was one of the UK’s first PCSOs (police community support officer) in London’s West End - accountancy, the Civil Service and fork truck driving for a gas company. Here she talks about how her diverse skill set helps her in her current role.

In the ground! Pipelaying on our new 19.5km water pipeline that will protect water supplies and the environment in Essex is now complete. Our £20m investment will help to connect and balance raw water resources in the north and south of the county. Work now continues on the reinstatement of land, as well as testing and the eventual commissioning of the pipeline, which will be capable of carrying up to 50 million litres of water a day to be treated at our sites. The pipeline is expected to be in use from spring 2025 , adding resilience to supplies for more than 370,000 of the company’s customers.

🌊 Introducing the Suffolk Business Water Group In response to increasing water restrictions on non-domestic properties, Suffolk Chamber of Commerce has successfully launched the Suffolk Business Water Group. This initiative aims to help businesses across the county adapt to these challenges, ensuring investment and job creation plans remain robust. Backed by Anglian Water Services and Essex & Suffolk Water, the Group includes leading voices from soft drinks, leisure, manufacturing, agriculture, Freeport East, the FSB, and local planning experts. Together, they’re focused on lobbying, sharing knowledge, and developing practical solutions to tackle water stress in Suffolk, part of the UK's most water-depleted region. This Group is an honest forum to address water challenges, share solutions, and prevent businesses from relocating to less water-stressed regions. We’re proud to work alongside our partners to support Suffolk businesses as we build a sustainable, water-resilient future. 👉 Have ideas to contribute? Or want to stay informed? Did you know there is a funding pot available to businesses in and around Eye in Suffolk, who want to become more water efficient? Essex & Suffolk Water is accepting applications to the Business Fund from companies who fall within the water company’s Hartismere area (see map). This is because the demand for water is rising in Suffolk, but the amount of available water remains the same, due to a number of reasons, including population growth and climate change. We want to hear from any business who has an idea that could save water and demonstrates innovation, saving on the cost per litre of water, amount of water saved, plus wider benefits, such as community, social, or environmental factors. Closing date is 7 March 2025. Visit our website for more info (link in the comments). #water #waterefficiency #FactualFriday #Suffolk #Eye

William Robinson, Water Resource and Supply Strategy Manager, at Essex & Suffolk Water explains why setting up the Suffolk Business Water Forum with the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce and Anglian Water Services is so important.
“Water, like most natural resources, is a finite resource and Suffolk is the driest part of the UK”.

Our Alternative Water Team have taken a leaf out of Benjamin Franklin's book, who once said: "By failing to prepare, you're preparing to fail." Here they are setting up a practice water bottle station, so colleagues from the Alternative Water Team know what they're doing should the worst happen and a station is needed to hand out water to our customers in an emergency. It also helps us to help you understand how to best access this emergency service, should it ever be needed. #water #emergencypreparedness

💧 Every little helps…. To keep the water flowing! 🔧 Recently we had a planned works in the Caister area where one customer's supply would have been affected. Network Technicians Kimberly and Dave took the opportunity to use our new Mowbi’s to keep this customer's in supply. 👷♀️ Maintenance Operative Robert was on hand to install this innovative bit of kit which can be used during planned work and even bursts and leaks to keep our customers’ water supply flowing. 👍 It does mean this work had no impact at all and the job could be carried out efficiently with no worries! ❤️ Great team effort!
