The organisation actively promotes the 3GPP technology road-map – 3G; 4G; 5G – and is a single source of information resource for industry reports and market intelligence. GSA Members drive the GSA agenda and define the communications and development strategy for the Association. The GSA GAMBoD database is a unique search and analysis tool that has been developed to enable searches of LTE and 5G devices and new global data on Mobile Broadband Networks, Technologies and Spectrum (NTS). According to the latest GSA data, the number of announced #fixedwirelessaccess CPE devices has increased by 14% since the end of December 2023, and the number of announced phones has risen by 61% in the same period (see chart below). The #5G ecosystem summary report is available for download now here: https://lnkd.in/ejTA7Tkw. The number of announced #5G devices has now reached a total of 2,142 devices, with the proportion of commercially available devices now up to 87.4%. In this latest report, GSA members and associates now access the full annex of all commercially available #5Gdevices, and dig into GAMBoD to find all the detail behind each device, including chipset, frequencies and support for technologies such as MIMO 4x4 and 5G Standalone. The free summary report is available for download here: https://bit.ly/3B3GXAs Key summary statistics from this latest update on the 5G device ecosystem include: * 29 announced form factors * 286 manufacturers with announced available or forthcoming 5G devices * 3,142 announced devices, of which at least 2,747 are understood to be commercially available * 1,089 announced devices with support for standalone 5G in sub-6 GHz bands, 895 of which are commercially available * Fixed wireless access CPE represents 10.1% of announced 5G devices, as more manufacturers continue to roll out the technology * Phones are the most prevalent 5G device, with the number of announced phones rising by 14% since the end of December 2023 The number of commercially available devices has been growing steadily since the start of the year and should continue in this manner. By the end of October 2024, GSA had identified 619 operators in 184 countries and territories investing in #5G, including trials, acquisition of licences, planning, network deployment and launches. This number excludes nearly 200 additional companies awarded priority access licences in the US auction of #CBRS spectrum, which could potentially be used for 5G. ** Of those, 343 operators in 126 countries and territories had launched or soft-launched at least one 3GPP-compliant 5G service ** 169 operators in 74 countries and territories had launched or soft-launched 3GPP-compliant 5G #fixedwirelessaccess (#FWA) services — just over 49% of those with launched 5G services ** 151 operators are identified as investing in #5Gstandalone (including those evaluating, testing, piloting, planning and deploying as well as those that have launched #5GSA networks). This new report on the global status of the #fixedwirelessaccess (FWA) market includes the latest updates about the availability of #FWA broadband services based on #LTE and #5G; tariff structures; service portability; service speeds and device support for FWA globally. This research was carried out by GSA in October 2024. Highlights from this update: * In FWA broadband services, GSA has identified announced service offers from 564 operators in 188 countries and territories, and launched services from 494 operators in 176 countries and territories. * Europe and the Middle East and Africa have the highest number of operators delivering FWA services using LTE or 5G. * More than 50% of tariffs for LTE FWA are based on data volume, with speed-based structures favoured by just over 21% of operators. The difference is less marked with 5G FWA. * The average of the marketed maximum peak download speeds for LTE FWA was 157.2 Mbps, down from 178.6 Mbps in June 2024, based on data for 334 operators in October 2024. For 5G-based offerings, the average maximum peak download speed was 790.7 Mbps, down from 974 Mbps in June 2024. GSA’s November 2024 snapshot of the #5G market highlights the rapid growth and adoption of 5G technology worldwide, with significant investments and deployments across various regions and operators. By the end of October 2024, GSA had identified 618 operators in 184 countries and territories investing in 5G in the form of trials, acquisition of licenses, planning, network deployment and launches. Additionally, nearly 200 other companies were awarded priority access licenses in the US auction of #CBRS spectrum, which could potentially be used for 5G. Other highlights in this edition: * 162 operators in 75 countries and territories have launched or soft-launched 5G #fixedwirelessaccess services based on 3GPP standards — just over 47% of those with launched 5G services. * There are now 146 operators investing in #5Gstandalone access, including those evaluating, testing, piloting, planning and deploying, as well as those that have launched standalone 5G networks. GSA has catalogued 63 operators as having deployed, launched or soft-launched standalone 5G in public networks. * The number of announced #5Gdevices is up by more than 65% since the start of 2023, with 2,995 devices catalogued. * Support for band n78 among 5G devices has surpassed 2,000 models.
