“Knowing that our care and expertise make a huge difference to our patients, helping them to live better with lymphoedema, is what motivates me every day.” - Tamara This #WorldLymphoedemaDay we spoke to Tamara Kosevic, Lymphoedema Clinical Lead at The Princess Grace Hospital to find out more about her role and how, across our network of hospitals, we support patients with specialist care. “My days are always busy but extremely varied, says Tamara, who has dedicated her career to caring for lymphoedema patients. “We treat every patient as a unique individual, understanding their goals from treatment and helping them to work towards them. This can include everything from managing and alleviating symptoms to prehabilitation. This involves identifying patients who are at higher risk of developing lymphoedema, for example those undergoing cancer treatment, to spot symptoms at the earliest stage' “I am hugely passionate about education and training , and I work across HCA UK’s hospitals to ensure colleagues have a better understanding of the condition and that we are referring patients to the teams that can best support them. "I am hugely proud to be part of what is relatively a small specialist lymphoedema community worldwide that really are making a powerful difference.” Thank you to Tamara and team for your care, dedication and expertise. #HCAHealthcareUK

Last week we shared the news that we are now offering CAR T Cell Therapy to treat myeloma, along with other types of blood cancers, including lymphoma and leukaemia. But how much do you know about how this highly specialised, immune system enhancing treatment works? ⬇️Watch our animation for a full breakdown of how Chimeric Antigen Receptors (CARs) boost our body’s natural immune defences to track down and destroy cancer cells. ❤️ As we're nearing the end of National Heart Month, we wanted to share this remarkable patient story involving innovation, expertise and a 3D-printed heart! David had been suffering from calcification of the aortic valve and mitral valve. When the calcification in his heart valves progressed to severe levels, putting him at a higher risk of heart failure, he was referred to cardiothoracic surgeon, Mr Bahrami Toufan and consultant cardiologist, Dr Jonathan Clague at The Harley Street Clinic. David needed surgery to repair his valves. Mr Bahrami suggested an endoscopic approach, accessing the heart through a small, 3cm incision in the rib cage. The procedure itself is shorter than an open surgery and can offer a shorter recovery time and fewer complications. Keen to understand as much as he could about his procedure David, an architect by trade, used his CT scans to create a life-sized 3D model of his heart and ribcage. The 3D view also allowed David to print ‘slices’ of his heart, this meant Mr Bahrami could show David where he would be placing a clamp or making an incision, and how much calcification could be safely removed. "Having a 3D model demystified a lot for me. As my wife said, I didn’t have the usual pre-op nerves," says Mr Nelson. “Bricks and Mortar don’t make a hospital. People do.” Dr. Thomas Frist Snr, HCA Healthcare Co-founder. Since opening our doors we have built a team focused on the highest quality care. Together we’ve helped thousands of people in the West Midlands with their healthcare needs, from routine appointments to some of the most complex treatments. As we look to the future, we'll continue to drive forward our mission to care for and improve lives every day. Here's a look back at just some of the moments, and the people, who have made this an incredible year. Find out more about the care we provide here: https://lnkd.in/dHDk4KsT #HCAHealthcareUK #HCAUK
