Congratulations to Anna Korre and the success of the SCOPE research showcase. Yesterday marked the culmination of the Sustainable OPEration of Post-combustion Capture plants (SCOPE) project. Over the past three years, this ACT-funded initiative has made significant strides in addressing critical knowledge gaps in carbon capture technology, contributing to the decarbonisation of industries such as cement, steel and waste incineration. The showcase brought together experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to share insights on emissions control, regulatory frameworks, and environmental impact assessments. Key highlights included: • Pilot plant testing results and emissions mitigation strategies • Guidelines for CO₂ capture plants • Regulatory insights from partner countries across Europe, the UK, and beyond Through collaboration, research and the engagement of stakeholders via the SPRINT network, SCOPE has laid a strong foundation for advancing Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS). These efforts will help overcome barriers to deployment, ensuring a cleaner, more sustainable future for industrial operations. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to SCOPE’s success and to those who joined us for this final event. Together, we are shaping the future of emissions management and making net zero a reality. Imperial College London SINTEF RWE TNO Environment Agency #carboncapture #CCUS #CCS

At the Sustainable Energy Futures Annual Conference 2024, we had the honour of hosting Sir David King, Founder and Chair of the Climate Crisis Advisory Group, for one of the most compelling presentations on climate science and solutions. Sir David highlighted the critical challenges posed by Arctic warming, which is happening four times faster than the global average, and shared innovative strategies for addressing the climate crisis. Among them: - The 4R Planet Strategy: A framework focused on Reduction, Removal, Repair and Resilience to combat climate change. - Marine Biomass Regeneration: Mimicking natural ocean processes to enhance carbon sequestration while boosting marine ecosystems. - Refreezing the Poles: Ambitious yet feasible technologies like marine cloud brightening to stabilise polar ice and mitigate warming. Sir David’s call to action was clear: we need substantial investments and collaboration to scale these solutions now. https://lnkd.in/e8QKMJ6U Imperial College London Imperial College Business School Department of Earth Science and Engineering, Imperial College Centre for Environmental Policy at Imperial College London #ClimateChange #EnergyTransition #Sustainability #NetZero #CarbonSequestration #GreenInnovation #Biodiversity #ClimateSolutions #ArcticWarming #CleanEnergy
