About us
The Institute for Collaborative Working (ICW) is a member-focused, not-for-profit, purpose-driven organisation that promotes the benefits of structured collaborative working. Supporting organisations of all sizes, across multiple sectors, to move from co-operating with partners to fully collaborating with them, to harness the benefits that collaboration can bring for our members and their partners, primarily through: • Better economic and commercial outcomes. • Outcomes resulting in clear social value benefits to the communities they operate within. • Driving towards the achievement of Net Zero and other sustainability targets. • Applying collaborative behaviours to be a more inclusive and diverse organisation. We do this through capability development, knowledge sharing, training, thought leadership forums, member events, online Share and Learn, publications and through consultations and discussions with our team of experts. We have been established for over 30 years (initially set up by the UK Government and the CBI) and have led the way demonstrating thought leadership in supporting the development of collaborative good practice, including the internationally recognised ISO standard for collaborative business relationships ISO 44001. Our corporate membership includes many multinational organisations, spanning sectors such as construction, defence, transportation, aviation, IT, facilities management, and they are at the forefront of effective collaborative relationship development. We also have members from Government departments and agencies, Universities, Trade bodies and other institutions and affiliates. Being a member of the Institute demonstrates a commitment to collaborative working at the highest level, through a desire to promote, share, network and develop the capability of both their organisation, teams and people.

A fantastic 2 days spent with a really terrific group of people who I’ve had the privilege of getting to know through my monthly Collaborative Business Relationships Community of Practice that I run at QinetiQ. This group are the QinetiQ Collaborative Business Champions representing a cross-section of our business areas. The development session this week was delivered by Bill Taylor from the Institute for Collaborative Working (ICW) and was both engaging and inspiring. Thanks Bill. Next steps are to build on the good work already being done in this area. We want to apply this learning and to ensure all Collaborative Champions set commitment objectives, understand what further mutual benefits there are for our customers and for QinetiQ and how they can be aligned to those objectives and start tracking progress and realising those tangible benefits. Want to get involved? Do you work at QinetiQ and want to learn more about how to repeatedly collaborate well? Please do get in touch with me and together we can make it happen. #QinetiQ #CollaborativeBusinessRelationships #ICW #ISO44001
