Lynsey talked about the benefits of sports in propelling women into successful business careers. A background in competitive hockey has been a factor in shaping Lynsey’s approach to leadership, an experience that helped her gain a deeper understanding of the importance of teamwork, discipline, and resilience. Thanks to all who attended - we look forward to bringing this group together again in 2025! A special thanks to Artemis Human Capital for the ongoing support of this important initiative. Creative Futures Academy, the Institute of Directors Ireland and IoD Northern Ireland were delighted to launch the Creative Boardroom: Collaborate4Climate Exhibition last night at the National College of Art & Design Gallery on Thomas Street, Dublin 8. Oonagh Buckley, Secretary General, Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications officially opened the exhibition. Funded by Creative Ireland's Climate Action Programme and the Shared Island initiative, Creative Boardroom: Collaborate4Climate is an urgent call to action in the face of one of the most pressing challenges of our time: #climatechange. In an era defined by unprecedented environmental challenges, this exhibition serves as a platform for exploring how collective action can drive meaningful change. The programme aimed to impact participants' behaviors and attitudes using an iterative process known as Design Thinking. Students from National College of Art & Design and Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology together with Chartered Directors used empathy-driven exercises to share diverse perspectives and gain a deeper understanding of complex climate-related issues and the underlying challenges that prevent behavioural change. The exhibition will run from 22nd November to 6th December and is open to the general public from 11am to 6pm daily, Monday to Friday. If you are in Dublin over the next few weeks we would recommend you stop by the NCAD and have a look at the exhibition! We had an enjoyable session yesterday with our Chartered Director community in partnership with Queen's University Belfast. We heard from Paul Terrington CBE MCMI ChMC on his extensive journey. Paul worked as a consultant with PwC for over 30 years, the last 21 as a Partner and the last 7 as a member of the PwC U.K. Management Board. Paul is also a past Chairman of the IoD in NI and a Council Member. He is a Fellow of the IoD and last year received our Chair’s award for board and governance excellence. All very impressive accolades and titles for a long and successful career. However the biggest take away from todays event was not the titles or roles Paul has held (although extremely impressive), but instead his insightful reflections on the impact of behaviours and the legacy one can and should leave. Paul shared how difficult, but necessary, it is to take on the challenging roles and how there can be positives when working outside your comfort zone. Thanks Paul for a really open and impactive session. We also heard an update from Stephen McCabe, Interim Executive Director at Momentum One Zero, from Queen's University Belfast. Momentum One Zero aims to drive inclusive growth through transforming Northern Ireland’s digital economy by substantially increasing digital innovation in the region. Momentum One Zero is open for business now with new state-of-the-art facilities set to be completed by 2027, when we will house more than 550 collaborative experts from across many organisations. We're looking forward to seeing the outcomes of this project! Thank you as always to Queen's University Belfast for their continued support.
