Is your hospitality business stuck in the crab bucket? Too many businesses in our industry are falling into the same trap—looking sideways, copying what others are doing, and blending into the background. It feels safe, but it’s holding us back. When everyone offers the same menus, drinks, and experiences, hospitality becomes a commodity. Customers get bored, price becomes the only battleground, and margins disappear. But here’s the insight: Customers aren’t looking for more of the same. They’re craving connection, belonging, and unique experiences worth leaving the house for. To stand out, you need to step back, focus on your purpose, and create spaces where people feel something real. 👉 In my latest article, we explore: Why the industry is stuck. How playing it safe is a race to the bottom. The opportunity to break free and offer what customers truly want.

Hospitality is tough—but it doesn’t have to be. ✨ Most of us started in this industry young, learning from the ground up. Back then, success felt simple: deliver five-star service ⭐, train your team well 👥, and stay ahead of the competition 🏆. But today, rising costs 📈, shrinking markets 📉, and relentless competition 🏢 have made things harder than ever. What if there was an easier way? 💡 By ignoring the noise of the competition, rediscovering your purpose 🎯, and aligning everything—your team 👩🍳, your customers ❤️, and your operations ⚙️—to serve that purpose, you can: ✅ Simplify your business. ✅ Build a high-performing, motivated team. ✅ Attract loyal customers who market your business for you. I explore this idea in my latest article, “Hospitality Business Made Easy.” 📖 If you’re ready to reconnect with your purpose and unlock the next breakthrough 🚀 for your business, you’ll also want to check out the Hospitality Made Easy Masterclass. Let’s make hospitality easier—and more joyful. 🎉

🎄 The Hospitality Industry Loves Christmas! 🎄 It’s not just the busyness that draws us in, though many of us thrive on the high-energy, fast-paced challenges that come with the season. When Christmas arrives, we crank it into top gear—solving daily problems, keeping the team buzzing, and ensuring our customers leave with a smile. 💪✨ But Christmas is more than just busy days and full venues. At its heart, it’s about connection, belonging, and nurturing relationships—values that hospitality lives and breathes every single day. Our role is to create spaces where people can pause, connect, and feel truly special. And when we do it right, the magic happens, often unnoticed, but always appreciated. This time of year allows us to embrace everything we love about the industry—serving others, making a difference, and sharing the joy with our teams and guests. 🎉 So here’s to a fantastic season ahead! May your venues and events be filled with guests who appreciate every moment of your hard work and dedication. Let’s make this Christmas one to remember! 🌟 Merry Christmas! 🎅🎁 #Hospitality #ChristmasSeason #TeamSpirit #CustomerExperience #HospitalityCommunity #KithandKinHospitality

👥 At yesterday's Kith & Kin forum event, I shared a story about how hospitality culture has transformed over the past 30 years. When I started, working 65+ hours a week was the norm—expected, even. In the ‘90s, long hours were the standard for anyone serious about a hospitality career. Without minimum wage protections, we worked hard just to get by. Exhaustion was a badge of honor, and burnout? It wasn’t even recognized. Today, the landscape has thankfully changed. Gen Z and younger staff expect—and deserve—balance, well-being, and respect in the workplace. They’ve helped shift the industry toward a healthier culture that values rest and life outside of work. What we’re left with is the heart of hospitality: the camaraderie, excitement, and joy of service, without the grueling hours. Watching this evolution in culture has been a privilege. 🌟 Thank you to The Burnt Chef Project Strive with SanaMente & HIT Training Such a great event yesterday! It was fantastic to discuss how our industry is evolving. #HospitalityCulture #WorkLifeBalance #GenZWorkforce #HospitalityIndustry #EmployeeWellbeing #IndustryTransformation #HospitalityHeroes #ProudMoment

🚨 Is your venue ignoring the low & no alcohol trend? 🚨 I was shocked and angry when a friend told me how she was treated at a pub just because she ordered a soda water as the designated driver. 😡 This isn’t just about poor customer service—it’s about a HUGE missed opportunity for businesses that fail to recognize the growing low & no alcohol market. 🌱🍸 With 3 in 4 UK drinkers now moderating their intake and 2.6 million fewer weekly drinkers (KAM Insight), you simply can’t afford to ignore this trend. Offering nothing but tap water to non-drinkers? You're not just losing their sale, you're losing their entire group. 💸💸 Just like McDonald's recognized the importance of catering to decision-makers with healthier options, your venue needs to make sure the non-drinkers feel valued too. The low & no market is here to stay—and it's a no-brainer to cater to it! 🧠💡 #LowAndNo #HospitalityIndustry #CustomerService #BusinessGrowth #Trends2024 #NoAlcohol #CustomerExperience #GroupDynamics #NonDrinkers #Hospitality #AdaptOrDie #KAMInsights #BusinessOpportunity #VenueMarketing

How many of us make this same mistake over and over again? 🤔 Hiring too quickly. Hiring out of desperation. Trying to fill a position just to have a body in place 🙅♂️. We keep doing it, fingers crossed 🤞, even though we know it’ll create a mess that could hurt our teams in the long run. Big thanks to Josh Shirtcliffe for sharing his experience! 🎙️ Catch the full Kith & Kin Hospitality podcast episode on Spotify now 🎧 #HiringMistakes #HospitalityLife #KithAndKinPodcast #LeadershipLessons #TeamBuilding #CaféCulture #HospitalityIndustry
