Later Life Provider Network
Community Services
Norwich, Norfolk 162 followers
Partnership network of organisations who provide services for people aged 50+ in the Norfolk & Waveney area.
About us
Norfolk & Waveney has a growing, ageing population and society must adjust to promote a healthy and active later life and support those who need additional support to live well. The Later Life Provider Network is a partnership of local organisations who predominantly provide services to people aged 50+, supported by academic research/best practice institutions and lived experience groups. Through the network, we aim to promote the needs and experiences of later life, collaborate with local leaders and influencers to shape and co-design future services in Norfolk & Waveney. We will share best practice from our own services, and promote opportunities for research and engagement to improve quality standards and outcomes. We will facilitate wider engagement with lived experience groups and organisations in the community who can solicit the views and needs of local people in the design of local services. We will represent the challenges of later life and provide solutions to how they can be effectively supported, and their impact to quality of life or health equality.

What a start to Christmas... Leaders from Norfolk and Waveney’s Later Life Provider Network, which represents 45 local organisations supporting over 50,000 residents aged 50 and above, have met with Norwich City MPs Clive Lewis and Alice Macdonald to highlight the severe challenges facing services for older people. The meeting, part of a wider series of discussions with MPs across the region, was a platform for the network to raise critical concerns about the future of care services. The group has been campaigning to ensure that local MPs understand the pressures faced by the sector and the impact on vulnerable residents. Thank you to Clive Lewis and Alice Macdonald for coming and talking to the network and taking on board our member feedback, we look forward to working with you and all regional MPs in the New Year. 🗨️📢 The assisted dying bill debate has raised much needed awareness today about the need for better palliative and end of life care. At this stage, the law on assisted dying has not changed and the bill will go through many more months of consideration. But while the conversation continues, too many people are dying in unnecessary pain and often alone, because the current system is failing them. Marie Curie remains neutral on the matter of assisted dying, but what we are absolutely not neutral on is the need to urgently fix end of life care. ❌ Visit: https://lnkd.in/eekHnu2W to read more.

Why hearing tests are so important!
Why do I need a hearing test? A hearing test/assessment measures how well you are able to hear. It can be used to find out if you have a hearing problem and if so, how serious it is. You may need a hearing test if you have symptoms of hearing loss. These include: * Difficulty in hearing other people clearly or misunderstanding what they say, especially in a noisy environment * Asking people to repeat themselves * Listening to music or watching TV with the volume higher than other people need * Difficulty hearing the phone or the doorbell * Finding it hard to keep up with conversations * Feeling tired or stressed from having to concentrate while listening * Feeling like people are ‘mumbling’ * Experiencing a ‘ringing’ sound in your ears Hear for Norfolk offers NHS funded hearing assessments to people age 50 and over with age-related hearing loss.
