Congratulations to my superstar colleague Chloe Thompson who has been shortlisted for the Yorkshire Young Professionals Awards 2025, in the category of Young Digital & Tech Professional of the Year. It is much deserved recognition for Chloe's work as a consultant at Whitecap Consulting, in particular the role she has played in helping create, launch and grow the LegalTech in Leeds initiative over recent years. This has included taking the lead on the popular Women in LegalTech events programme which launched last year. Best of luck Chloe, and congratulations to everyone else who has been shortlisted for these awards, which are run by Insider Media. The full shortlist is here: https://lnkd.in/eYT8UAij

At the intersection of law, technology, and culture lies the future of ethical AI. On October 30, Dr. Emily Roach, PhD led a compelling session, "AI, Ain’t I a Woman?" where we explored how AI biases can exacerbate systemic discrimination. The event highlighted a pressing need: increasing representation in AI development and policy. From diverse data sets to inclusive teams, the solutions are within reach if we work together. Be part of the change, connect with us for future discussions on ethical AI.

Yesterday, we hosted our third Women in LegalTech event at The Knowledge Exchange (TKE) at Leeds Beckett University. The event brought together an inspiring community of professionals to discuss how we can encourage more women into tech-related legal roles. The conversation highlighted the challenges women face, including balancing work-life commitments, overcoming gender biases, and navigating male-dominated cultures. But it wasn’t just about the challenges, it was about finding solutions. We heard powerful advice on: • Building confidence and seeking mentorship to navigate industry challenges. • Embracing workplace flexibility, such as flexible hours and compressed workweeks. • Updating tech curricula and increasing representation to break down barriers for women and underrepresented communities. • Advocating for ourselves, celebrating our achievements, and pursuing our passions unapologetically. • Highlighting the importance of female role models in tech to inspire young women to consider careers in this field. The takeaway was clear: Diverse teams lead to better results. Leaders shared how increasing representation and visible role models are essential for empowering the next generation of women in tech. A huge thank you to our amazing speakers, Jade Richardson, Laura Wood, Cassandra Macdonald and Nnenna Ifeanyi-Ajufo, the Knowledge Exchange for hosting us, OneAdvanced for sponsoring the lunch, and everyone who contributed to the discussion. Thank you to everyone who joined us, let’s keep the momentum going ✨ #WomenInLegalTech #LegalTech
