👏great publication offering hope to #longcovid patients 🫶 Mitochondria dysfuntion has direct association to some symptoms among patients. 👉Researchers noted increased levels of superoxide dismutase 1 which signals oxidative stress and elevated autophagy-related 4B cysteine peptidase levels, indicating disruptions in mitophagy. 👉the analysis also identified reduced levels of circulating cell-free mitochondrial DNA (ccf-mtDNA) in these patients, serving as a novel biomarker for the condition. 👉Using the popular COVID antiviral #Paxlovid failed to significantly improve symptoms in 155 patients experiencing moderate to severe long COVID, according to a study published today in JAMA Internal Medicine. 🔥Although a 15-day course of Paxlovid was found to be safe, it didn't demonstrate a significant benefit in improving symptoms. "Considering the 6 core symptoms together (fatigue, brain fog, body aches, cardiovascular symptoms, shortness of breath, gastrointestinal symptoms), there was 🔥no statistically significant 🔥difference in the pooled symptom severity," the authors said. https://lnkd.in/eYVFZqhN

Revolutionary research on the use of antibiotics (only two specific ones) in treating covid and #longcovid! 🎉I am glad to share that this publication was published in one of the most cited journals with impact factor of 20.93! 👉our team has worked for so long on this topic as it is one of the main drivers behind prolonged symptoms after Sars-CoV-2 infection which was overlooked by soo many researchers, scientists and of course- doctors. 👉It will be critised, of course, but lets consider the balance between the impact after long covid vrs short course of antibiotics to kill infected bacteria and toxins produced.
