Professionalising the rail industry
About us
We are a not-for-profit membership organisation and expert skills & workforce consultancy helping to deliver a modern and efficient world-class railway. Driven to have a skilled, well trained, and productive workforce now and into the future. At NSAR, we are impartial and trusted by Government to provide solutions to meet the increasing needs and demands of a modern rail industry, championing industry views in our policy and advocacy work. Our specialist teams provide insights, quality assurance and workforce services to develop and sustain a highly skilled workforce. NSARE was established in November 2010, and NSAR Limited was incorporated in January 2011 as a ‘not for profit’ company, wholly owned by its Members. In December 2015, we dropped the ‘E’ from our name to reflect the wider industry view that we focus on all aspects of the rail industry not the engineering elements. Today we have in excess of 360 Member organisations and in June 2013, we were presented with our BS 11000 Certificate of Registration for Collaborative Business Relationships.

The NSAR Rail Workforce Survey 2024 paints a clear picture of the challenges facing the UK rail industry. Key findings: 👋 Up to 90,000 workers could leave the rail industry by 2030 through retirement and other forms of attrition. ↘️ A 9.4% decline in the workforce in the past year, primarily in the supply chain. 💼 The average age is 44, with a third of employees aged 50+. 🚺 While the trend is positive, women still represent only 17.4% of the workforce. 👉 Read the report: https://lnkd.in/ec3G7ZFj #NSAR #RailWorkforceSurvey2024 #rail #skills

The 'AVA' footbridge is part of the TIES Living Lab programme, a transformative collaboration of 25 partners focused on driving smarter transport infrastructure using data, technology and Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). NSAR acted as PMO for the Living Lab. The AVA revolutionises the procurement, manufacturing and installation of railway footbridges. It uses a modular design, which is cheaper and quicker to construct. Lifts are built into the bridge’s design, making it much easier to travel between the platforms. 👉 Discover more: https://lnkd.in/eF66Qvc2
