Mae Frances O’Brien wedi dechrau ar ei rôl fel Prif Swyddog Gweithredol Cyngor Castell-nedd Port Talbot, gan gymryd yr awenau oddi wrth y cyn-Brif Weithredwr Karen Jones, sydd wedi ymddeol. Penodwyd y #PrifWeithredwr newydd, a oedd cyn hyn yn Brif Swyddog Cymunedau a Lle gyda Chyngor Sir Mynwy, yn ffurfiol ynghynt eleni. Gan siarad yn ystod ei diwrnod cyntaf yn y swydd, dydd Llun, 18 Tachwedd 2024, meddai hi: “Mae dechrau ar swydd Prif Weithredwr Cyngor Castell-nedd Port Talbot yn anrhydedd go iawn, a dyma gyfle mwyaf fy mywyd gwaith. “Mae hefyd yn gyfle i ddychwelyd adref i mi a’m teulu. Gan i mi gael fy magu yn yr ardal hon, mae fy nghariad a’m hangerdd dros bobl a lleoedd y fwrdeistref sirol amrywiol hon yn fy llenwi â balchder. Mae fy malchder hefyd yn cynnwys ein hanes, ein treftadaeth a’n llwyddiannau, yn ogystal â’n potensial a’n huchelgais ar gyfer y dyfodol. “Hoffwn dalu teyrnged i Karen Jones am y cyfraniad a’r gwahaniaeth a wnaeth hi dros breswylwyr a staff dros y pedair blynedd ddiwethaf. Frances O’Brien has started her role as the new Chief Executive Officer of Neath Port Talbot Council, taking over from outgoing Chief Executive Karen Jones who has retired. The new #ChiefExecutive, formerly Monmouthshire County Council’s Chief Officer for Communities and Place, was formally appointed earlier this year. Speaking on her first day, Monday, November 18th, 2024, she said: “Taking up the post of Chief Executive of Neath Port Talbot Council is truly an honour and the greatest opportunity of my working life. “It’s also a homecoming for me and my family. Growing up in the area, my love and passion for the people and places in this diverse county borough fills me with pride. My pride also encompasses our history, heritage, and achievements as well as our potential and ambitions for the future. “I’d like to pay tribute to Karen Jones for the contribution and difference she has made for residents and staff over the past four years. Karen led the authority through incredibly challenging times. “Our aim is to make this area the best it can be to bring up healthy happy families, ensure prosperity, opportunity, and respect for all. A place that we’re all proud to say we live in and we’re from. “As a council we’ll do all we can to deliver our objectives - that children get the best start in life, all our communities are thriving, our local environment, culture and heritage can be enjoyed now and in the future and, particularly important given the changes at Tata Steel, our people are skilled and have access to high quality, green jobs.” The Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council, Cllr Steve Hunt, said: “We are glad to have Frances with us and we will now begin working with our new Chief Executive in meeting the many challenges and capitalising on the many opportunities that lie ahead for us here in #NeathPortTalbot. “I also pay tribute to the hard work and dedication shown by our former Chief Executive Karen Jones who was in post during what were very challenging times for us all. Neath Port Talbot hosted the finish line for the first EV Rally of Cymru earlier today as part of #WalesClimateWeek.     The 2-day endurance event partly funded by Welsh Government put Wales’s electric vehicle infrastructure to the test over a 500-mile route. Over 30 teams made their way from Bangor to the Bay Technology Centre in Baglan and a few of our own electric vehicles made an appearance.    The innovative Bay Technology Centre is a new state of the art energy positive, hydrogen generating building. 📈 £100m contract opportunities to support civil engineering projects   The South West and Mid #Wales Civil Engineering Services Framework tender is now live on the GwerthwchiGymru / Sell2Wales website.   The regional Framework is valued at an approximate total of £100 million and will run from 2025 to 2028 with an option to extend for up to an additional 12 months.   The Framework will consist of two lots for #CivilEngineering Services; ranging from small value specialist consultancy services to multi-disciplinary services in sectors such as highways, structures and transportation engineering, including project management, technical advice, design, technical surveys, construction management and management of services.   A key addition to the new Framework is the inclusion of a lot for specialist consultancy services, up to £50,000 in value. The Councils wish to encourage small and medium businesses to bid for a place on this lot to provide them with additional resource for services such as (but no limited to) ecology, structural surveys, landscaping, hydrology, typographical surveys, street-lighting design, etc. #Procurement #Sell2Wales #PublicProcurement #SMEs NPT Business
