Innovation only matters when it reaches those who need it. Today, we are honored that Novartis has been ranked first in the 2024 Access to Medicine Index. This recognition reinforces our commitment to improving access to breakthrough medicines for people around the world, regardless of their location or socio-economic status. While we are grateful for this recognition, there is still a large unmet need for medicines —some life-changing, others potentially life-saving— and Novartis is committed to further broaden access to innovation and create sustainable impact. Thank you to our 70,000+ associates and our partners who work tirelessly to make inclusive healthcare a reality. Because every patient matters. Everywhere. #AccessToMedicine #Sustainability #HealthEquity Access to Medicine Foundation

  • The number of people dying of cardiovascular disease (CVD) has reached the highest level in a decade, the NHS is under increasing amounts of pressure, and the number of people living with multiple conditions continues to rise. A focus on prevention is not just important; it is now urgent, and pharmaceutical companies have a greater responsibility than ever before to play their part. By focusing on people before they become sick, we can begin to recognise areas of unmet need, intervene before a disease progresses, and prevent a greater burden on our healthcare system. We were fortunate to hear from Claire O'Rourke, Managing Director at Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance, and Darren Green, Clinical Lead for the Northern Care Alliance Research Collection at the recent The King's Fund inaugural Prevention Conference. They shared the extraordinary ways that they are working with breast cancer and CVD patients to optimise screening programmes, promote early diagnoses, and streamline treatment pathways. It's often asked why pharmaceutical companies are interested in preventative health. For Nicole Kane-Nicol, our Medical Director, the answer is simple… “As a major player in the industry, focusing on prevention is critical but it is also the right thing to do. For our patients. For their families. For the NHS.” #NovartisOK #KFPrevention

  • During Blood Cancer Awareness Month, we were pleased to be joined by 17 members of the Welsh Senedd, including former First Minister, Mark Drakeford MS, to raise awareness of a group of rare blood cancers called myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs). For the past 12 months, ten unique sculptures representing the most common symptoms of MPNs have been travelling around the UK to raise awareness of these conditions, with Cardiff bringing the tour to a close. Designed by five mural artists, the sculptures also include an augmented reality experience that brings the ten characters to life through a QR code. Despite the wind and rain, Members of the Senedd joined us outdoors to understand more about MPNs and how Welsh patients could benefit from speedier diagnosis and treatment. At Novartis, we believe that partnership and collaboration can deliver improved patient outcomes and we've been delighted to work with MPN Voice on this campaign. To learn more about the MPN10 visit our website https://lnkd.in/eZ_mSCRe and let's empower patients, politicians and care providers. This content and the MPN10 campaign was created and funded by Novartis Pharmaceuticals UK Ltd. FA-11279892 October 2024 #NovartisOK

  • Two years ago, we put on our construction hats and visited what would soon become WEST Youth Zone, a state-of-the-art youth centre supporting young people in West London to realise their potential. Now, as founding members, we returned to see the completed facilities, and we are filled with pride witnessing the incredible progress that has been made since our last visit. Since opening in April 2024, WEST has already made a meaningful impact in the lives of over 2,000 young people, offering them a safe and welcoming space to connect and thrive. We understand how important it is for young people, especially those from diverse, low-income backgrounds, to have access to resources that support their education, health, and overall well-being. Being located just around the corner from WEST, we are dedicated to fostering a brighter and more equitable future for our youth, guiding them as they grow into the leaders and innovators of tomorrow. Join our Country President, Marie-Andrée Gamache, and WEST CEO, Elanor Gunn, for a virtual tour to see how we are working together to create positive change in our community. • Our patients and their loved ones are at the heart of all that we do. That’s why we stand with The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI)’s new campaign, #OurCommonGoal. The message is clear. No matter who you are… a researcher, a nurse, a parent, a friend, a patient, we all have one thing in common: the goal of leading a life that is healthy, happy and fulfilled. A life that is lived well. Every day, we’re collaborating across the pharmaceutical industry, with the NHS and alongside patient groups to make this a reality - driving innovation, pioneering medical breakthroughs and bringing new treatments to patients. From oncology to cardiovascular disease and beyond, we are reimagining medicine to improve and extend the lives of people, everywhere. #NovartisOK

Ever heard of the triple win? In healthcare, this is all about collaboration that simultaneously benefits patients, the NHS, and the pharmaceutical industry. To unlock the potential of these vital partnerships, the NHS Confederation and The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) recently launched new, highly appreciated guidance on how to set up these NHS-industry partnerships for success: https://bit.ly/46BPaHt If we want to make most of the UK’s potential and deliver game-changing innovations to patients, we need to be working together in new and different ways. In 2023 alone, we co-created over 100 projects with the NHS, reaching around 53,000 patients. This year, we’re already impacting 38,000 patients through 100 active initiatives. To learn more about how we are collaborating with the system to improve patient’s lives, watch this video featuring our Country President Marie-Andrée Gamache and our Solutions & Service Design Lead Helen Fotheringham #NovartisOK

  • "The UK's life sciences sector is a jewel in the crown in many senses”. Hear from Marie-Andrée Gamache and our new Head of Public Affairs, Rob Thomas, as they talk about how the UK is brimming with potential for economic growth and groundbreaking innovation, and how we are here to support the new government in advancing this vision. To benefit UK patients, a whole-system approach is needed, where all stakeholders in the ecosystem come together to contribute their ideas and commit to delivering impactful solutions. We look forward to working with the new government to build a stronger, healthier future for all, reducing the lives lost to cancer and cardiovascular disease. #NovartisOK #LifeSciences #OurCommitment

  • Every year, birthdays bring the opportunity to make a wish. At this year's #NHSConfedExpo, we decided to extend this tradition by inviting attendees to leave their wishes for the NHS on our tree of hope. We were overwhelmed by the response, receiving over a hundred heartfelt messages. Among these messages, we were incredibly honoured to receive a special wish from NHS CEO Amanda Pritchard, reinforcing our shared commitment to putting patients at the centre of everything we do. ConfedExpo truly embodies the essence of partnership, which is why we are immensely proud to have partnered with NHS Confederation to create a zone dedicated to partnerships and system collaboration. Our Community of Practice Wall and Learning Theatre sessions served as platforms for UK health leaders to come together and discuss crucial topics such as the inequalities in breast cancer and cardiovascular disease. Our brilliant team showcased our dedication to partnering with healthcare systems in order to address health inequalities so that all patients – no matter who they are – can have fuller, healthier lives. As the NHS celebrates its 76th birthday, you too can make a wish for the NHS. Join us in commemorating this milestone and add your wish to our digital tree of hope here: https://lnkd.in/eNfUcmnc

  • We’re calling on the new UK government to include Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) in the newborn screening programme without delay. One baby is born with SMA every five days in the UK. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial to prevent irreversible, life-changing damage. Yet, SMA is still not included in the UK newborn screening programme. Over 65% of European Union member states already routinely screen for SMA, including Russia, Turkey, and Ukraine. The introduction of newborn screening could lead to lifetime savings of over £62 million for the NHS. Urgent action is needed to ensure that newborn screening for SMA is implemented nationwide. The case for change is clear, and the time to act is now. Watch the video to understand why #EveryMomentMatters for babies born with SMA. #NovartisOK

  • Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the main causes of death and disability in the UK. However, leading a healthy lifestyle can greatly prevent it. Sadly, many people only realise this when it's too late and they end up in A&E. That's why, during British Heart Week, we took action to raise awareness among our associates about the importance of understanding lipid profiles, ‘knowing their numbers’ and how they affect our heart health. Teaming up with LetsGetChecked, we provided free cholesterol testing and organised an educational event on cardiovascular health. Our main goal was to highlight how crucial it is to take charge of our heart health and identify our own personal risks. Early detection and proactive management can make a significant difference. Join us in spreading awareness, education and action for a healthier future. #NovartisOK
