The ‘Innovation to Market’ session highlighted key battery industry stakeholders from research labs to successful spin-out companies.
Remember to connect with the panel 👇
⚡Anna Wise, Head of Strategy at Nyobolt, who highlighted recent developments including Nyobolt’s development of a car battery capable of charging to full capacity in 6 minutes and how the Nyobolt team has benefitted from members with a range of experiences and backgrounds.
⚡Sebastian Leaper, Co-founder and CEO of Watercycle Technologies, who described their novel end-to-end mineral recovery systems for recovering high-purity products from water and emphasised the importance of creating a circular global economy alongside achieving Net Zero goals.
⚡Monica Marinescu, Co-founder of IONETIC, who emphasised the importance of relationships between academia and industry in the battery industry and described Ionetic’s development of “different battery solution flavours for different customers”.
⚡Kieran O'Regan, Co-founder and COO of About:Energy, who provided insights into his transition from PhD student to co-founder of a battery data and modelling company, sharing misconceptions about entrepreneurship and explaining how PhDs allow researchers to develop business skills.
⚡Tom Heenan, Co-founder and CEO of Gaussion, who shared Gaussion’s MagLiB systems which extend battery lifetime through easily integrable magnetic enhancement, focusing on extra-cell magneto-electrochemistry rather than internal cell chemistries to enhance battery performance.
⚡Matthew Lumsden, Founder & CEO of Connected Energy, who explained how Connected Energy harnesses the value of second-life batteries and spotlighted how stakeholder understanding is crucial for business development.
Many thanks to Professor Prof. Mohamed Mamlouk, Newcastle University, who chaired the session.
