🖼️ **A Night of Love** by Patrick Hughes invites us to pause, reflect, and connect with ourselves. The serene, starry night and the luminous heart reflected in still water remind us of the importance of self-compassion and quiet moments of calm. As we celebrate **National Self Care Week**, let this artwork inspire you to take time for yourself—whether it’s a mindful pause or a chance to recharge. Self-care is about recognising that looking after ourselves is as essential as caring for those around us. 💖 --- About the Artwork: *A Night of Love* by Patrick Hughes Patrick Hughes is known for creating works that make us question our perceptions. In this print, which is part of our artwork collection, he captures a vast night sky and a soft, pink heart mirrored in a tranquil pool, bringing a surreal, dreamlike quality to the scene. Born in Birmingham in 1939, Hughes disrupts the viewer's sense of perspective, most famously with his "reverspective" pieces. Here, he explores a recurring theme—the playful influence of surrealists like René Magritte, encouraging us to look deeper and find unexpected beauty in reflection. #creativehealth #art #healthandwellbeing #charity #paintingsinhospitals #NationalSelfCareWeek Rebecca Hamlin Lucy Smith Stephen Crampton-Hayward

Non-profit Organizations
We're a charity transforming UK health, using world-class art to inspire hope and boost wellbeing.
About us
We use art to inspire better health and wellbeing for patients, carers and communities across the UK. Art can help us stay well, aid our recovery, and support us to live longer, better lives. We believe that great art and good health go hand-in-hand. We think everyone should have the chance to benefit from art. That's why we're dedicated to bringing it to people through our artwork loans and art activities in spaces used by everyone: health and social care. We work with patients and carers to transform clinical environments into something meaningful to them. Working together, we can create care spaces that encourage, enrich and empower everyone who uses them.

Today we announce the departure of Sandra Bruce-Gordon FRSA, Director and Chief Executive, after almost five transformative years with Paintings in Hospitals. Sandra’s leadership has been pivotal, elevating the charity’s national presence and promoting the critical role of art in health and wellbeing. Key initiatives during her tenure include work with Google Arts & Culture, launching the Art Meets Book project, delivering the Oasis programme in Sue Ryder day hospices and Sandra's speeches given in the Picture Gallery of the Victoria and Albert Museum and this year at the UK House of Lords. All of which have expanded awareness of the link between the visual arts, health, and wellbeing. Sandra reflected, “I’m immensely proud to have led our talented team as we advanced our mission of Creative Health.” The Board has appointed Stephen Crampton-Hayward, a long-standing Trustee of Paintings in Hospitals, as Interim Chief Exec. Chair Jane Anderson says “Stephen’s experience and dedication will ensure stability and enable us to continue our invaluable work that brings the power of art to bear on the health and wellbeing of so many people." As a charity dedicated to the arts, we rely heavily on donations to continue providing vital services to communities across the country. It was truly uplifting to see so many generous individuals not only purchasing beautiful pieces of art but also making donations to help us thrive.
