The Power of a Positive Safety Culture!! In the UK construction industry, safety isn’t just about compliance—it’s about culture. A strong, positive safety culture means that every worker, at every level, feels empowered to speak up, look out for each other, and take proactive steps to prevent incidents before they happen. When safety becomes a shared value rather than just a set of rules, productivity increases, morale improves, and—most importantly—lives are protected. It’s not just about policies and PPE; it’s about mindset, leadership, and accountability. How is your organisation harnessing a culture where safety is truly lived, not just enforced? If your struggling to answer that, maybe the Safety Team here at Potter Raper can help!

We had the pleasure of speaking with sixth-form students, sharing insights into the day-to-day life of working for a #construction consultancy, and guiding them through the various academic routes into the industry. We were incredibly impressed by how engaged, polite, and enthusiastic the students were - a true credit to the school and a reflection of the hard work and dedication of their teachers. Careers fairs are more than just an opportunity to share our knowledge - they’re a chance to open doors. In fact, we met Tali Ness at a Langley careers event in 2021, and after offering her a one-week work experience placement, we were so impressed that we welcomed her to our team as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor. She now works with us full-time while studying through day release. At Potter Raper, we’re passionate about inspiring and supporting the #NextGeneration of construction professionals. Engaging with students, providing valuable insights, and offering placements where possible is just one of the ways we’re investing in the future of the #ConstructionIndustry. #CareersInConstruction #FutureTalent #WorkExperience #BuildingTheFuture

How can public spaces make London happy? To find out, we’re bringing together built environment experts to look at links between wellbeing and place. The evidence for investing in public spaces is compelling: regular use increases life satisfaction equivalent to a £974 income rise, according to Fields in Trust. The Health Foundation provides data that shows a correlation between life expectancy and access to green space (see comments below for links to both reports). But we need to understand better what makes these spaces truly inclusive and welcoming for all Londoners. That’s what the Happy London project aims to do. We're delighted that Countryside Partnerships, Potter Raper and Queen Mary University of London are already on board with the project, which starts in May. Thanks to Laura Murray (Countryside), Nicola Tilbury MRICS (Potter Raper), Jennie Savage FRSA and Alison Blunt (QMU) for supporting the project. Become a funding partner for this programme to help us develop practical, evidence-based approaches for public spaces that bring communities together and enhance happiness for all. Programme sponsorship is from £2,500. Contact Anna Odedun for the profile-raising and thought leadership benefits of becoming a Future of London partner. #FutureOfLondon #PublicSpace #CommunityWellbeing #HappyLondon

We are thrilled to announce that Mulberry Academy London Dock has officially achieved 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐡𝐚𝐮𝐬 𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧! This makes it one of only a handful of buildings worldwide to meet the most stringent requirements for comfort and energy efficiency. This exciting project involved the construction of a new five-storey, L-shaped secondary school on a narrow plot of land. It includes car parking, utilities, a sports hall, and a games space in the basement, with the roof of the games space cleverly forming part of the playground above. We were proud to act as 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐫'𝐬 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐫, 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐫 on behalf of our client, the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, ensuring the project was delivered to the highest standards of quality, sustainability, and performance. This Passivhaus-certified school is a leading example of how sustainability and energy efficiency can be seamlessly integrated into modern educational facilities.
