📍 Entre os dias 20 e 21 de fevereiro, realizamos reuniões estratégicas nos municípios de Alto Paraguai e Tangará da Serra, no âmbito do Pacto PCI e da Iniciativa de Paisagem do Oeste do Mato Grosso. Durantes os encontros, discutimos sobre oportunidades de financiamento climático de longo prazo com base no potencial de benefícios gerados por projetos de carbono no território alinhados à Estratégia PCI. Agradecemos aos representantes dos Comitês PCI Municipais e também aos nossos parceiros Instituto Produzir, Conservar e Incluir, IPAM Amazônia e Produzindo Certo, pelo trabalho realizado no desenvolvimento de uma estratégia de financiamento climático de longo prazo para as intervenções da Iniciativa de Paisagem do Oeste do Mato Grosso.

This week, Proforesters Isabella Freire and Paulien Denis participated in the meeting of the Observatório do Clima - Climate Observatory in Brazil. It is great to see such a dynamic group of organizations working towards a common goal, with a clear milestone in 2025: COP30. Hopes are high for the COP in the Amazon Forest, with the official mascot Curupira, a mythical forest guardian. Key topics continue to be just transition, fossil fuels, adaptation, and biodiversity. Where there are opportunities, there are risks, and we hope that COP30 will live up to its expectation of being a driver for global as well as national positive change. 🌱 Impulsando la Sostenibilidad en la Industria de la Caña de Azúcar 🌎   Nos enorgullece haber sido parte del taller Sostenibilidad en la Práctica, realizado junto a Bonsucro el pasado 4 y 5 de febrero en Cali, Colombia. Durante estos dos días, 49 participantes de distintos países de Latinoamérica y el Caribe —incluyendo Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, México y República Dominicana— se reunieron para fortalecer su compromiso con una producción más responsable.   A lo largo del taller, se exploraron temas clave como derechos humanos, evaluación de riesgos en la cadena de suministro de la caña de azúcar y se presentaron los fundamentos y aplicación de las Áreas de alto Valor de Conservación (AVC). With a number of cocoa and chocolate companies we address the key issues in production at the landscape level through the development of landscape/jurisdictional initiatives (e.g. with our many wonderful partners in the Asunafo-Asutifi jurisdictional initiative in Ghana and the San Pedro jurisdictional initiative in Côte d'Ivoire).
