How politically persuasive can AI be? Rounding off our 12 days of studies is The Alan Turing Institute’s research by Kobi Hackenburg, current PhD candidate at Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford, exploring how people and #AI interact—the biggest study of the year on Prolific with 25,000+ taskers. And with that, Happy New Year! We look forward to seeing many breakthroughs in 2025.

Next in our 12 days of studies is a recent #NeurIPS award winner: The PRISM alignment paper by University of Oxford’s Hannah Rose Kirk, Andrew Bean, and collaborators 🏆 The PRISM dataset maps the sociodemographics and stated preferences of 1,500 diverse participants from Prolific, to their contextual preferences and fine-grained feedback in live conversations with 21 LLMs. Available here: https://lnkd.in/e9fasN2f #AIResearch #AIAlignment #LLM

The 12 days of studies continue with “Safeguarding Crowdsourcing Surveys from ChatGPT with Prompt Injection” by Delft University of Technology, University of Melbourne, and University of Sydney 🗞️ With a sample of 200 taskers from Prolific, this paper proposes a mechanism—which uses “prompt injection”—to detect LLM-generated responses to surveys. Next in our 12 days of studies is Layer 6 AI (TD), whose research aimed to expose flaws in generative model evaluation metrics. Senior Machine Learning Scientist Anthony Caterini and team sourced over 1,000 evaluators from Prolific to identify flaws, which could help improve future #AI evaluation methods and models.
