The Synnovis state-of-the-art hub laboratory in Blackfriars Road, London, is at the heart of a programme to deliver and transform pathology services in south east London. One of the largest, purpose-built pathology laboratories in the UK, this world-class facility is filled with cutting-edge technology and will process around 70 per cent of all pathology activity currently conducted by Synnovis, serving a patient population of almost two million. At the heart of the new facility is a Telelift Unicar Electric Track Vehicle installation designed, supplied and installed by Quirepace to deliver bulk samples from the ground floor reception area to the various floors of the building. Peasmarsh Joinery Guildford, By Dave Sheppard. We had and enquiry from Michael Brown at Peasmarsh Joinery regarding a new motor for his vacuum cleaner. When asking for details about the machine we were surprised to find out the machine is over 30 years old and still going strong. Mike started the business in the 1980’s With two colleagues and when business started to pick up, he invested in some new equipment, the BVC HV6 being one of them. I arranged to visit Mike and take a look at the antique machine and discuss any requirements. I was surprised to see that Mike had fabricated his own Perspex lid and was collecting wood dust straight into the filter bag which he hasn’t changed in all these years!! I explained that we could modify the vacuum to collect into a paper bag which will make emptying the machine easier and prolong its life even further. Mike agreed and we set about designing a 3d printed part which enabled the vacuum cleaner to connect to his very large sanding machine. Mike is pleased with the modifications and the vacuum was pleased to get a new filter Mike has been designing bespoke hand-crafted window frames, stair cases, doors, porches, you name it for over 40 years and is still working hard today in his eighties! Being an enthusiastic motor sport fan we had plenty to talk about. When the Merchant Navy Locomotive Preservation Society needed to replace their very old BVC Vacuum they came to BVC Quirepace. Chris (Senior Engineer) said we have been using a BVC vacuum for decades to clean out the soot box on our 1948 Steam locomotive Clan Line No 35028 so it made sense to came back to them to supply us a new unit. Patrick came to look at the loco and recommended a 4kw vacuum for the task, because we are a charity Quirepace helped us to purchase the vacuum and even delivered it on a Saturday when our team of volunteers are on site. Thanks very much! Patrick said; My father was a railway man for 30 years so when the enquiry came in, I was straight down to the depo in London to meet the team. When selling to a charity we know funds can be tight so we will always try to help with the purchase. I was more than happy to deliver the vacuum myself on a Saturday (and spend more time around this magnificent looking engine).
