Good call: Disused Belfast phone box now micro exhibition space with a message 📞 Thanks to Belfast Telegraph for this piece on the newly unveiled RSUA Design Box! The transformation of the phone box was the result of a design competition for early-career architects run in partnership with JP Corry. The competition was won by Julian Manev, James Boyd and Erl Johnston for their proposal for a micro-gallery to showcase all forms of local design. RSUA Director Ciarán Fox said, “It is wonderful to see what’s possible when creativity is put at the heart of the process of reimagining even the smallest elements of our built environment.” Read the full piece here: https://lnkd.in/eu56eJUw Photo 4 by James Grieve Cathedral Quarter BID, Belfast

A huge thank you to the members for joining us, and to Sam Dill from Studio Rogers for leading the tour with Rural Housing Association Limited and Lowry Construction Ltd.

The RSUA has unveiled the smallest public exhibition space in Ireland in a repurposed red telephone kiosk in the heart of Belfast. The RSUA Design Box, the first of its kind, was the winning entry in the 2023 RSUA/JP Corry Early Career Architects Design Competition, submitted by Julian Manev, Erl Johnston and James Boyd. Their project proposed a little gallery to display work from local talent inside a carefully refurbished phone box. It gives a new lease of life to the formerly derelict phone box and brings light to this previously dark corner of the city, whilst also paying homage to its original function of communication. With thanks to Mark Todd, Cathedral Quarter BID, Belfast, OBIN Specialist Joinery, Decking NI and JP Corry for supporting this project. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eNjqwUcX
