  • Yesterday our Clinical Director, Dev Ahuja, PhD was at the OT Show and Therapy Expo. It was incredible to see so many passionate OTs/AHP's and businesses gathered in one place. Dev attended a few sessions to dive deeper into the latest research, innovative practices, and connect with industry leaders. It was good to catch up with Joshua Catlett from Verilo in the business consulting clinics and listen to Ove Indergaard talk about use of shockwave therapy for pain along with some exciting lessons in use of AI and technology for rehabilitation. • This week, Emma Thomson had the privilege of attending the Hugh James Trauma Conference in Cardiff, themed "Working Together to Make a Difference." The event brought together inspiring speakers from healthcare, law, the police, and the charity sector, all focused on improving support for individuals and families affected by major trauma. The day was both thought-provoking and inspiring, showcasing the remarkable work of organisations such as Brake, the road safety charity, The Good Grief Trust, and the Children's Burns Trust. We encourage everyone to explore these organisations’ resources and consider how they can help signpost support to those in need. The panel discussion on how specialist solicitors can help families after trauma was a particular highlight, offering valuable insights into the role of legal professionals in supporting recovery. Meeting Steve Brown and hearing his inspiring story was another memorable moment, as was hearing James Gratton speak about managing a particularly challenging case with dedication and expertise. A huge thank you to the incredible speakers who shared their expertise and to Hugh James for hosting such an important event. Together, we can continue to drive better outcomes and provide meaningful support to those impacted by severe injuries.

  • Deborah Edwards and Emma Thomson attended the Vocational Rehabilitation Association's 30 year milestone Conference yesterday. It was a fantastic opportunity to reflect on three decades of progress in vocational rehabilitation and discuss the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. The day featured thought-provoking sessions and expert insights: ⚫ Nancy Doyle opened with a practical session on neurodiversity in the workplace, sharing evidence-based strategies for inclusion. ⚫ Sarah Vickerstaff followed with an engaging discussion on supporting an ageing workforce and promoting proactive health measures. ⚫ In the afternoon Professor Dame Carol Black delivered a powerful keynote talk on workplace wellbeing and the critical role employers play in supporting health. It was wonderful seeing some familiar faces and meet new ones. A special highlight was seeing Dr Andrew Frank a former VRA Chair and early advocate for rehabilitation. The day concluded with the Annual Awards Ceremony, where Matthew Riddell and the team at Swiss Re were the very well-deserved winners of the the award for Best VR Project. Congratulations to all the winners and those nominated. We'd like to extend a big thank you to the VRA team for running such a successful event.

  • Well the team certainly had a ball at the Spinal Injuries Association Gunpowder Ball! The moving stories shared reminded us of the resilience and strength within the spinal injury community and the vital support that the SIA offers. Not only did we enjoy a fantastic evening supporting a great cause, but Dev Ahuja, PhD also scored a win in the auction with his successful bid for some amazing gold shoes—supporting the fundraising and adding some serious flair to his wardrobe! Big thanks to the SIA for organizing such a memorable event—we were glad to be a part of it! And thank you to our guests for attending.
