Following on from its recent success at the Tech South West Awards, Science Creates member QLM Technology Ltd has secured another award win - this time for Innovation in Climate Tech at Barclays Entrepreneur Awards. QLM Technology Ltd's cutting-edge quantum lidar camera technology provides a powerful tool for detecting and measuring greenhouse gas emissions with great precision. By enabling the oil and gas industry to identify leaks from major emitters, like methane, this technology has the potential to drive significant progress in the fight against climate change. Congratulations to the whole team on this impressive accolade! #deeptech #quantumtech #methane #climatechange
The global demand for energy is rapidly expanding. 7 billion more people want to use energy like we lucky 1 billion do. Balancing that growth while protecting our ecology and climate is humanity’s biggest challenge. Barclays is one of Europe’s leading financiers to the developing world so has a huge role to play. QLM Technology Ltd are proud to have won the Innovation in Climate Tech Award at Barclays Entrepreneur Awards 2024. Paul Hughes and I had a great time celebrating with world-leading entrepreneurs including Neil Morris from Kelpi at Outernet London. Thanks to all the Barclays judges for agreeing we have a technology that can have a major impact sustaining our climate. #BarclaysEA24 #sustainableinnovation #methanecontrol #lidar #cleanenergy #photonics SLB

Huge congratulations to Science Creates member Kelpi for winning the Startup Award at the Barclays Entrepreneur Awards last week. The world-leading sustainable materials company was recognised for both its disruptive solution to single-use packaging and impressive client list including Waitrose & Partners and L'Oréal. Using seaweed and natural plant-based oils, Kelpi has developed unique, biodegradable coating materials for paper and card packaging. These act as effective barriers against water and grease, offering a revolutionary, sustainable alternative to fossil fuel plastics commonly used in packaging across the food, drink and cosmetic industries. #deeptech #startups #entrepreneur #foodpackaging
Huge news from London last night: Kelpi came home the winner of the Start-Up category at the Barclays Entrepreneur of the Year 2024. Kelpi CEO Neil Morris was handed the prestigious award by the brilliant compere for the evening, Dragons’ Den’s Sara Davies MBE. Congratulations to Science Creates member QLM Technology Ltd and alum WASE for each winning coveted awards at the Tech South West Awards in Bristol last week! QLM Technology Ltd received the Innovation Award for the development of its advanced quantum lidar cameras to detect and measure greenhouse gas emissions. By enabling continuous monitoring of the world’s largest emitters, like methane, QLM Technology Ltd offers an effective solution to pinpointing leaks with 3D accuracy in the oil and gas industry. WASE scooped up the Sustainability Award for its work transforming organic waste into renewable energy and nutrient-rich fertilizer through its advanced microbial electrolysis technology. This unique process, which treats waste up to ten times faster than traditional anaerobic digestion, allows companies to both sustainably manage their waste and generate an on-site energy source, supporting a circular economy approach.
