The Six Free Trees campaign is into its fifth year and has seen more than 750 trees planted across South Cambridgeshire since it was launched in 2019. The campaign encourages tree planting by promoting its many benefits and is one of a range of initiatives by South Cambridgeshire District Council to support its ambitions to double nature and get the district to net zero carbon by 2050. 🌍 As world leaders descend on Baku for COP29, it's important to recognise the impact the built environment has on climate change. According to the World Green Building Council, buildings currently account for around 39% of global energy-related CO2 emissions. Climate change represents one of the biggest challenges of our times. That's why at SCIP we prioritise sustainable building practices in our work. We're committed to developing a scheme with strong green credentials that fully aligns with South Cambridgeshire District Council's Business Plan to deliver cleaner, greener, zero-carbon futures for local communities. Our scheme will deliver 72 affordable homes built to #Passivhaus standards, translating to low energy bills for tenants. We also set a target to increase biodiversity net gain (BNG) from the development by 20% (double the mandatory 10%) to help enhance the natural environment in Cambourne. #COP29 #Baku #Environment #Sustainability #SustainableHomes
