Making tidal energy production simpler than ever.

About us

The ocean covers over 70% of the planet and is full of energy. So much so that if we could harness this renewable energy source, we would meet much of the global electricity demand and move closer to net zero. At Spiralis Energy, we are delivering solutions to make it happen. Every day, all over the world, tides create constant motion in the ocean. Water flows back and forth from one area to another. Our innovative technology will capture these tidal currents to generate clean, sustainable energy. With each tide, we will move towards a greener future.

We’re in Alderney! This week, we’ve been showcasing our technology, meeting the wonderful people of Alderney, and launching our Tides2Tea campaign to raise awareness of how tidal power could bring clean, reliable energy to communities everywhere. 🌊   In 2025, we’ll be testing the Axial Skelter in Alderney waters, known for having some of the strongest tidal currents in Europe. This makes it the perfect place to demonstrate how our technology works. We’re incredibly grateful for the warm welcome and support we’ve already received from the local community and organisations. It’s been inspiring to work so closely with everyone here to make this trial possible. With our #Tides2Tea campaign, we want to raise awareness of how tidal power and our technology can make a real difference - for communities, for the planet, and for a sustainable energy future. The Axial Skelter is simple, cost-effective, and each unit can generate enough electricity to brew 250,000 cups of tea per day. We’re on a mission to make clean tidal energy a part of everyday life for everyone - and to brew countless future cups of tea sustainably! We’d love for you to join us. With just a cup of tea, you can support our journey and help create a future where sustainable water power is accessible and affordable to everyone. As a thank you, we’ll write your name on the Axial Skelter when it’s deployed. Find out more about our Tides2Tea initiative and buy us a cup of tea here: https://lnkd.in/eRVCQx3z. ☕ Thank you for your support! 💙 Spiralis Energy #netzero #tidalenergy #cleanenergy

We’re delighted to announce that Spiralis Energy has received a strategic investment of £800,000 from London-listed energy company KISTOS PLC, who have placed their trust in our Axial Skelter technology. This funding will enable us to build and test a tidal Axial Skelter power unit as we prepare for our first trial deployment in the waters off Alderney. Designed to be simple and scalable, the Axial Skelter has the potential to overcome the challenges that have held back tidal energy for too long. We’re excited about this next step and grateful to KISTOS PLC for their support as we work towards delivering reliable, sustainable tidal power. Just over 50 years ago, we came all the way to explore the Moon, but what we really discovered was Earth. With awe and excitement, we captured the first colour photograph of our home, seeing it for what it is - a blue planet. 🌍 The oceans cover more than 70% of the planet. They are vast and full of energy. So much so that if we could tap into it, we could meet a large part of the global electricity demand and move closer to net zero. Yet, while we're busy drilling the oceans for oil and gas, we're missing out on their potential to generate clean energy from tides. Tidal energy is one of the most reliable renewable sources, and it’s just waiting to be used. The Axial Skelter is here to make that happen. 💙 Spiralis.energy #tidalenergy #oceanenergy #renewables #cleanenergy #renewableenergy

Spiralis Energy Ltd is a tidal energy system developer founded on the Isle of Wight. "Research into the industry leaders for torque measuring equipment led us to Datum who were incredibly helpful throughout the acquisition process, proving a detailed consultation on the best equipment to use, and working diligently to ensure it was all delivered to meet our very tight timelines. The RS425 was vital to the success of our system as it allowed us to plot accurately our torque and power outputs. Throughout our installation and trials process, Datum was on hand to provide troubleshooting and advise us on how to get the most accurate results possible. We would absolutely recommend the equipment and support provided by Datum and if we need any similar solutions to continue our development, we definitely will not look anywhere else. Thank you Datum!" - Spiralis Energy #client #testimonial

New CFD Simulation, published today ! After almost a year of continued collaboration between Cape Horn Engineering and tidal energy developer, Spiralis Energy Ltd, we are proud to present the first validation results of our CFD analysis with a 6-meter 1/4 scale test rig deployed at Poole Harbour, UK, in real-world conditions. This is a very valuable first step towards our ambitious plans of deploying full-scale axial tidal energy converters that could revolutionise the renewable energy landscape. We are currently working on a 16m length by 5m diameter "Skelter" to be tested over the harsh winter conditions. Our simulations are key to understanding the loads on the structures and optimising the hydrodynamic shape of the Skelter for maximum performance. Spiralis Energy aims to power up 11% of the national grid using its tidal energy technology. “The UK has the best tidal knowledge in the world. Our technology can deliver a renewable energy source that doesn’t harm sea life and sits within the circular economy framework,” said Chief Executive of Spiralis Energy, Guy Levene OBE Levene OBE. “What makes Spiralis easy-to-scale is that our units have a modular design to enable them to fit into a standard shipping container for affordable transportation anywhere in the world. It’s really quite straightforward – we’re offering a simple, more affordable, more reliable and sustainable energy solution; our technology simply works.” Spiralis is to test two of its Axial Skelter power-generating screws in the waters off Alderney in the Channel Islands. With some of the strongest tidal currents in Europe, and thanks to its unique seabed ownership, Alderney supports project development. The CFD simulations were processed on a High-Performance Computing (HPC) cluster using the best-in-class software package Simcenter STAR-CCM+ in the latest version from Siemens Digital Industries. #Tidalenergy just got a new entrant with a sustainable, survivable system that will have the lowest LCOE of any competing tidal system. More importantly we can insure the O&M costs of typical 15 year contracts due to condition monitoring and only requiring a Multicat Workboat for servicing

Introducing the Axial Skelter: 500kW of Clean, Predictable Tidal Power Imagine harnessing the power of tides with a simple, survivable, sustainable device. The Axial Skelter by Spiralis Energy (Earthshot Prize nominee) generates a clean 500kW per system in just 3 m/s currents. Made from recycled plastic using robots locally, it's a cost-effective and eco-friendly solution for a predictable energy future. Why Axial Skelter? Sustainable & Affordable: Recycled plastic construction reduces environmental impact and production costs. Simple & Reliable: One moving part minimizes complexity and maintenance needs. Predictable Power: Tides are predictable 100 years in advance, unlike wind or solar. Baseload Powerhouse: Skelters deliver consistent, reliable energy to the grid, day and night. Beyond Existing Solutions: Traditional tidal devices are expensive, complex, and bar 1 have failed to demonstrate scalability. The Axial Skelter offers a sustainable, cost-effective solution that's safe for our oceans. Invest in a Lucrative Market: The global tidal energy market is projected to reach $8 billion by 2035 (credible market research report). Take a look at our 6 mtr prototype during open water testing. We are seeking investment to scale up to a full array during 2025 #tidalenergy #renewableenergy #renewables #oceanenergy #innovation #alternativeenergy #venturecapital #technology #greenbonds #sustainablefinance
