We are delighted that the extension to Sciennes Primary School, located in the popular and busy Marchmont area of Edinburgh, has officially achieved Passivhaus certification from the Passivhaus Institute, following rigorous quality checks of the £3.2million two-storey extension to the Grade B listed building. The project has also recently been honoured with three prestigious industry awards, receiving the ‘Large Scale Project award’ from the Edinburgh Architect’s Association, ‘Innovation in Delivering a Sustainable Learning Space’ award at the Learning Places Scotland Awards and the Glasgow Institute of Architects award for Education. Site visits with Sussed Sustainability continue this week with Blairgowrie Recreation Centre. Designed by Holmes Miller and being constructed by BAM UK & Ireland this project is designed to bespoke #Passivhaus swimming pool criteria. It replaces a smaller and aging, existing building offering enhanced facilities for the school and the wider community. The structure is Cross Laminated Timber giving a beautiful and very airtight structure. Second fix is ongoing and progressing towards completion. This is visit is part of the extensive quality control embedded into the Passivhaus process. I'm looking forward to a swim in the new year! Passivhaus Certifier visit to Faifley Campus, as part of Sussed Sustainability team, with Zero Energy + Passivhaus, Holmes Miller and Morrison Construction. Jesus Menendez, was given a tour of the site, inspecting the emerging fabric and airtightness detailing. The campus is aiming for #Passivhaus certification offering a high quality space for learning with exceptionally low running costs. The proposals combine St Joseph’s and Edinbarnet Primary Schools; Auchnacraig and Lennox Early Learning and Childcare Centres; an additional support needs base; education resource centre; community facilities and a new community library. This is visit is part of the extensive quality control embedded into the Passivhaus process. We're looking forward to seeing the project emerge and working with the whole team to demonstrate the quality of the build. 📢 Appointed to finalise design for Fermanagh Lakeland Forum redevelopment 📢   GRAHAM Building is delighted to have been appointed by Fermanagh & Omagh District Council, through Pagabo’s major works framework, to finalise the design for the Fermanagh Lakeland Forum redevelopment.   This flagship project will see the construction of a new state-of-the-art #leisure, health and wellbeing hub in Enniskillen - designed and built to the very highest level of environmental #sustainability.   🗨 Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor John McClaughry, said: “…The awarding of the design contract to GRAHAM is another key milestone in the proposed redevelopment of the leisure centre and will see the overall design finalised to enable the Council to make a decision on the overall project.”   🗨 Jonathan Hall, Managing Director – Building South at GRAHAM, said: “…This project, which will feature Ireland’s only Passivhaus-certified leisure centre, is pushing the boundaries of environmental sustainability.
