📢 The new Government must listen to the leaders of tomorrow. Our Youth Voices research involved over 3,000 14-24 year olds from across the UK, seeking their views on the issues that matter most to them politically and personally. Our new Government has an unmissable opportunity to make sure young people are heard, by introducing a clear process to involve youth voices in every level of policy and decision-making. Introducing Rosa, Boundary Breaker of the Year for #ThisIsYouth 💪 💜 One of Rosa’s first questions after being diagnosed with stage four non-Hodgkin lymphoma was: “Can I still do my DofE?” And with the support of her hospital team, she not only continued with her Bronze DofE but also made a lasting impact on her ward. 🏥 Despite the challenges, she adapted her sections, led activities for young patients on her ward, and turned her hospital experience into an opportunity to help others, even while undergoing chemotherapy. Congratulations, Rosa! We can’t wait to see what you accomplish next. Read Rosa’s full story: https://bit.ly/4iX0p37 #ThisIsYouth

It's #WorldBrailleDay and this year marks 200 years since Braille was developed 🎉 We're celebrating #Braille200 by sharing Theo's incredible story – Theo was our Innovator of the Year for This is Youth 2023. Theo used Braille to help develop a life-changing piece of software called 'Talking Balance' which is a scientific scale that reads out the precise weight when measuring different materials. This means Theo, and many other partially-sighted and blind young people, are now able to fully participate in practical science lessons. You're amazing, Theo 💜

We’re celebrating 10 years of partnering with The Duke of Edinburgh's Award charity to offer the prestigious Gold Award programme to our colleagues. Since 2014, over 200 participants have successfully completed the programme, with another 57 currently working towards their awards – an achievement we’re incredibly proud of. The Gold Award is much more than a badge of honour. Over 18 months, participants take on five challenging elements, from volunteering and physical activities to project management and a walking expedition, all designed to test their resilience, teamwork and leadership skills. We're excited to share our 2024 Impact Report, published today 📋 We analysed responses from 40,880 young people about their wellbeing, skills development, physical activity, and community engagement at different stages of their DofE experience – comparing key areas with UK-wide youth data. Our findings show that doing the DofE makes a real difference by: ✅ Boosting wellbeing ✅ Building skills ✅ Strengthening community ties ✅ Promoting physical activity DofE participation also appears to help protect against some of the negative trends affecting young people's wellbeing in adolescence. Young people today are navigating unprecedented challenges and uncertainty, but the DofE is here to help them build the resilience, confidence, and independence they need to thrive.
