‘Appliance poverty’ is a serious problem for thousands of low-income households. Appliances for cooking, washing and refrigeration can be expensive and, without them, living costs can increase significantly. Hyde Charitable Trust (HCT) grants help Hyde customers thrive in their homes by providing vouchers for food, day-to-day essentials and paying energy bills. The grants can also provide essential household items including white goods, furniture and carpets to those in crisis or financial hardship. Last year HCT made 1,599 grants that supported 1,263 residents totalling £323,000. Here's how we helped a customer buy household appliances so she could get debt free https://lnkd.in/eei2pT5d #UKHousing #HydeCharitableTrust #Grantgiving

Our vision is a great home for everyone
About us
We’re here for our customers and the communities we serve, creating homes and places people can be proud of. For almost 60 years, Hyde has provided affordable homes for people to help achieve our vision of a great home for everyone. As a Group, we bring together organisations that share a commitment to providing great homes and services, and to supporting the communities we work with. Partnerships with organisations that share our values and focus on customers is part of our long-term strategy to help us do more for our customers and to meet our founding social purpose. Today, we own and manage around 120,000 homes, making us one of the largest and most diverse housing and community services providers in the country. We provide neighbourhood services to around 350,000 homes across the country, proudly support our Armed Forces community with their housing needs, and work with critical areas of the public and private sectors, including schools, hospitals, and local councils. We’re also using our knowledge and expertise to help more people to have a home. We’re working with our local authority partners, homebuilders, and like-minded investors, to find new ways to build more affordable homes, because we can’t stand by and wait for others to fix the housing crisis.

"I’m pleased that 100% of these high-quality homes here are going to be affordable. Having a safe, warm and comfortable home is so important and is still a challenge for so many. I’m looking forward to working together to build a community that everyone can be proud of.” Steven Morrice, Development and Sales Director at Hyde. In partnership with Chartway Partnerships Group, we’re excited to announce the acquisition of a 6-hectare site in Sittingbourne for the delivery of 135 new affordable homes. The Swanstree Avenue site will be transformed into a vibrant, sustainable neighbourhood, with homes designed to meet EPC A energy efficiency standards. Construction is expected to start in early 2026, and will include a mix of affordable rent and shared ownership homes. The partnership project highlights our shared commitment to creating much-needed, sustainable, community-focused housing in collaboration with Homes England and Swale Borough Council. We’re supporting the latest The G15 case study in the Room To Grow campaign, revealing the shocking scale of stigma faced by social housing residents in London. The ‘Taking the Stigma out of Social Housing: The Residents View’ report launching today in Parliament polled 3,000 social housing residents in London, finding that 45% have experienced prejudice or discrimination because of their housing status. Despite these challenges, the report, sponsored by the G15 Residents’ Group, finds that safe, secure social housing provides a vital foundation for families, offering stability and improving health outcomes. Urgent action is now needed to address harmful narratives and perceptions of social housing residents. We’re proud to celebrate the value that social housing brings to both individual residents and the economy & society as a whole. We support customers affected by domestic abuse by helping them access refuge accommodation and move home when they’re in a time of crisis. Our Helping Hand fund means we can also provide white goods, furniture and carpets to help relieve the financial burden. As a customer we helped recently said: "Without the grant, I would still have no cooking facilities and no fridge. I'm so grateful for the items I received". Last week our Chief Operating Officer, Neal Ackcral, met the new MP for Dartford, Jim Dickson to talk about the work we do in his constituency and show him some of our homes there. Neal was joined by our Head of Property Maintenance for the region, Richard Pickup, and the Operations Manager (Neighbourhoods) for Kent, Shola Alao. Shola explained the work our Neighbourhood Officer does in Dartford, checking communal areas are safe and engaging with customers. With all our repairs in Kent done in-house, Rich spoke about the changes we've made this year to speed up our service and improve customer satisfaction. #UKHousing #Neighbourhoods
