What better way to mark World Sustainable #TransportDay than by celebrating the first ever EV bus going on permanent display at the iconic London Transport Museum. We were honoured to help LTM tell the story of sustainable, zero-emission London transport and inspire future generations to get involved in the bus industry by providing a state-of-the-art EV electric bus full of interactive elements for visitors to explore. The exhibit which features a Wrightbus Electroliner, was engineered specifically for the museum by Ross Cleaver and team. The display is now open to the public thanks to the support of our partners, Wrightbus, Zenobē, Hanover Displays and NAVAHO. The successful candidate will report to the Operations Manager and play a vital role in driving our performance, through absolute responsibility for drivers on designated routes within the depot. Transport UK London Bus operate bus services across London on behalf of TFL, plus rail replacement and event services across the UK. We operate over 11% of the London’s bus network, running c850 modern high-tech vehicles and employing around 3,000 employees across six depots in Central, South and West London. Responsibilities · Driving a significant reduction in road traffic collision and customer injury rates. · Embedding The Three “Sees” defensive driving strategy. · Completing thorough investigations into all incidents to identify root cause and actions to prevent reoccurrence on an individual and wider basis. · Actively monitoring the Bus Customer Experience Survey and ensuring that drivers are striving for the best scores while intervening as necessary. · Educating drivers proactively on delivering excellent customer experience. · Having a good working knowledge of the UK Domestic Drivers’ Hours’ Regulations. Acting on any breaches found through internal checks or audits. · Ensuring all drivers are aware of the role of the DVSA and the need to report any DVSA checks immediately. · Carrying out driver license audits. · Managing the sickness absence levels of direct reports, either commending good attendance or applying the Attendance Policy as required. · Producing effective occupational health referrals so that the doctor is able to assist the employee and you in managing sickness absence. · Working with Allocations and Central Duty Managers to ensure staff lost mileage is minimised and appropriate actions are taken. · Working with all necessary departments as well as drivers to minimise lost mileage. The Successful Candidate · Excellent people skills:- communication, listening, adaptability to your audience. · Experience of conducting investigative interviews, preparing casework and hearing cases where applicable. · Strong organisational, time management and communication skills. · Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages. · Qualification in IOSH would be desirable. Responsibilities: - Deliver consistently high standards and procedures across the Operations Directorate, ensuring maximum performance against agreed targets set by the Board. - Responsible for achieving success in key areas, i.e: staffing efficiencies, driver quality standards, staff leadership, building and maintaining positive relations with our partners and stakeholders. - Responsible for ensuring the Driver Recruitment and Training Team deliver a high quality timely service whilst maximising the potential for driver observations and corrective training. - Responsible for building cohesive and effective working relationships with Trade Unions and assisting Managers in building their working relationships. The successful candidate: - Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. - Must have experience of working at a senior level within the transport industry and be able to demonstrate a track record of results. Multi-site operational experience would be a distinct advantage. - Must be able to demonstrate they can lead and motivate the team and ensure targets are achieved as well as being able to influence others. - Must have a flexible approach to the hours of work. - Must have a strong understanding of the financial controls and operational budget. - Must be able to liaise with individuals at all levels including the board. - Must have a strong and sound knowledge of the London tendering market and the targets we are contractually bound to deliver. - Ideally hold a full PCV licence.
