Congratulations Alec Peachey and colleagues on this great piece of work! Something we’ve learned with our trial partner in the US is the approach the White House is taking to facilitate a close collaboration of all organisations relevant to the electrification challenge to work together in a framework to solve it. A similar model operating in the UK would be a very powerful tool indeed. This is something we’re pressing hard at as we engage with Department for Science, Innovation and Technology and others within Westminster. Keep up the great work Transport + Energy and look forward to catching up at an event soon.

As the show season closes for another year, TPS sales manager Arthur Skyba shares his reflections on his first month at TPS, immersion in the very fast-moving world of fleet EV charging, learning his AC from his DC and what 2025 will bring.  1 month in: #1 The scale of the overall UK challenge- a successful marriage of EV adoption and Infrastructure expansion- is vast, however there are highly innovative businesses running hard at the problem. #2 The fleet EV electrification challenge is a completely different animal from the personal EV home / street one. For fleets to electrify, completely different operating models must be carefully thought out and implemented in line with robust ultra-rapid charging infrastructure which will support them. It's a daunting task! #3 Data-driven AI solutions are coming into the market to address this. The clarity of operational modelling they can bring when coupled with smart approaches to manage locally available power – such as our own Smart Fleet solutions- will make a huge difference in reducing the scale of the challenge #4 There’s a very apparent appetite for collaboration across the sector – a clear recognition that tough challenges are more easily solved in numbers than solo.  #5 A big surprise is how few UK manufacturers there are in the market given the size of the opportunity.     Looking forward to the next 12 months:     #1 In a market in which you can measure significant change in weeks, 12 months will bring some real leaps forward for the UK.  #2 The much-anticipated Megawatt Charging Standard (MCS) coming will present problems for early adopters of EV technology through hardware obsolescence. Although game-changing opportunities for adopters just coming into the market to do so MCS ready with a clear flight path to their electrification goals and commercially successful operational models. #3 Ever stricter emissions mandates -in particular given we have a new Government- are bound to add sharply defined change to the landscape.  #4 Enjoying the opportunity to grow with the transition. After all- commercials aside- this is the greatest cultural shift society globally has faced in living memory. To be an active part of it is very exciting. #5 The exponential acceleration AI has to bring, will open lots of new doors along the way. And potential rabbit holes. The challenge will be to pick which to go down and which to avoid! #FleetEVCharging #SmartFleet #EVChargingInfrastructure #Potenza #VeloxUltraRapid #V2X #MCS #DCEVChargers #DCMicroGrids To find out more about our Smart Fleet Ultra-Rapid DC V2X charging solution for fleets, visit www.turbopowersystems.com or DM Arthur Skyba to arrange a chat.
