Yesterday, Unipart Group CEO Darren Leigh and the Executive Leadership Team visited our colleagues in Portsmouth to celebrate and welcome Unipart's newest team members. They recognised the start of an exciting new chapter for the recently rebranded Unipart Polymer and Composite Solutions team. Following the recent acquisition, the leadership team formally honoured the hard work, resilience, and dedication of every individual who has contributed to this transition over the past few months. We were thrilled to have our long-term customer McLaren Automotive Ltd join us on the day, showcasing some of their world-class supercars as a testament to the incredible work our teams do to contribute to their success. Growing manufacturing capabilities through this recent acquisition has expanded Unipart's offering and aligns perfectly with Unipart’s growth strategy. Unipart is among partners working with Coventry University on a government-funded feasibility study into sustainable transport. Awarded through the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK's Academic Advisory Group, the Department for Business and Trade grant will enable Coventry University to carry out a feasibility sprint to investigate 'Advancing UK’s Industrial Strategy for the Next-Generation Battery Manufacturing'. The project will see Coventry University analyse the complete battery value-chain, working with key partners, to provide a roadmap of the key technical challenges, skills gaps, and investment opportunities to build future scalable next-generation manufacturing capability. Unipart Manufacturing Group, alongside partners Gaussian, TaiSan, Global Nano Network, and Nyobolt, will provide extensive battery expertise and guidance in support of Coventry University. Unipart has announced Mike Bristow has joined Unipart Logistics as its new UK Managing Director. Mike has gained nearly 30 years of valuable experience in the supply chain and logistics industry, with a proven track record of success in leading and growing businesses. As UK managing director for Unipart Logistics, Mike will be working with customers across Unipart’s seven core sectors, including automotive, healthcare, aerospace & defence, technology and e-commerce, consumer & retail. Unipart has won a two-year contract to support Volkswagen Group UK Ltd to deploy its SAP Enterprise Warehouse Management (EWM) solution within its One Aftersales business, supplying parts for a number of its UK brands and retailers. The Unipart Signite team will support the EWM implementation from a programme management and key process and technical perspective, calling upon Unipart’s 50-year supply chain expertise and extensive SAP experience to deliver a tailored implementation to Volkswagen Group UK’s operations. We are delighted to announce a new three-year contract with Vanchanggo, a rapidly-expanding B2B and B2C pet supplies retailer based in South Korea. Our team will provide comprehensive e-commerce services to Vanchanggo from its facility in the Gyeonggi-do Province, optimising its supply chain to ensure a seamless and efficient logistics operation. The facility opened this month. Thank you to everyone who has made Unipart’s Big Charity Challenge 2024 a great success, with our teams around the world coming together for a week of focused fundraising for local charities. Colleagues have taken part in a wide range of exciting activities and events that have included bake sales, bike rides, and raffles. In celebration of Unipart’s 50th anniversary this year, the Unipart Executive Leadership Team took on a ‘Walk & Talk 500 Miles Challenge’ to raise money for mental health charity Mind. This challenge has seen colleagues walking and talking across the country to get to know each other even better and truly understand the importance of our mental health.
