About us
Urban World Matters | Influencing Positive Urban Change We are dynamic cross-disciplinary and cross-generational network of visionaries, creators, and strategists who specialise in cities and are dedicated to driving positive urban change. Our goal is to inspire everyone to shape a better urban future for people and life on our planet. Our vision of "better cities for people" promotes vibrant, inclusive, and healthy urban environments that improve people's quality of life and support all life on our planet. UWM Mission "Influencing Positive Urban Change" by inspiring public and private sector leaders and stakeholders, NGOs, developers and future leaders of communities to join us in shaping a better urban future. We believe that the power of achieving positive urban transformation lies in having a shared vision, taking collective action and embracing joint responsibility. We recognise that this involves redefining the way we work and deliver our projects. At the heart of our work is a commitment to comprehensive and cross-generational engagement. This means involving the leaders of tomorrow, leveraging the support and contribution of experienced leaders, and strategically engaging with today’s decision-makers. We deliver this by fostering a collaborative environment within our organisation, clients and partners where ideas can be shared, best practices can be identified and applied and solutions can be co-created and implemented. UWM has the ability to bridge the gap between different urban leaders, stakeholders and communities to inspire collective action towards positive urban change. We offer a unique combination of creative strategic thinking, expertise in sustainable urban development and comprehensive support throughout the entire project delivery process. By focusing on integrating creative, collaborative and entrepreneurial strategies, we can convert ideas into immediate results, ensuring successful outcomes and benefits for both people and the planet.

It’s time to transform cities into engines of planetary healing!
What if cities could heal the planet instead of harming it? Sustainability in cities often means reducing emissions, improving waste management, and using renewable energy. These efforts are essential, but they aren’t enough to truly transform urban spaces. Cities have the potential to be regenerative - to give back to nature and their communities, making urban life a catalyst for planetary healing. Here’s how cities can embrace regeneration: ⚫ Restore urban biodiversity: Create green roofs, plant native species, and build urban forests. ⚫ Transform infrastructure: Use regenerative materials and design buildings that produce more energy than they consume. ⚫ Harvest rainwater: Improve water management systems to reduce runoff and replenish groundwater. ⚫ Rewild public spaces: Turn empty lots or underused spaces into thriving habitats for wildlife. ⚫ Support circular economies: Implement systems where waste becomes a resource, like composting and material reuse. ⚫ Empower communities: Provide training for green jobs and prioritize the well-being of residents over economic growth. ⚫ Collaborate with Indigenous knowledge: Partner with local and Indigenous groups to design cities that are in harmony with the land. By adopting these practices, cities can transition from being places of consumption to hubs of regeneration - revitalizing the planet and creating a better quality of life for all their inhabitants.
