This marks another major step in our 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 as we work towards our goal of 𝟱,𝟬𝟬𝟬 Premier Inn 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺𝘀 across Ireland. 🏨 Located just off O’Connell Street, this new Premier Inn will be part of the vibrant 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘀 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, and play a role in breathing new life into one of Dublin’s most historic buildings. 🏨 Premier Inn secures a place in the Vienna hotel market 🏨! We are pleased to announce that we are welcoming guests to the first Premier Inn branded hotel in Vienna, Austria! ✨ The 180-bedroom Premier Inn Wien City is located near Vienna’s central station 🚉 and was acquired as part of a portfolio of six hotels in Germany and Austria in spring 2023. Since taking over operations in March 2023, Whitbread's teams in Germany led a range of modernisation and refurbishment works, including 🛏️ new furniture, 🚿 renovated bathrooms, and 🎨 refreshed interiors. The hotel now offers Premier Inn’s signature bedrooms 💜, along with 29 enhanced ‘Premier Inn Plus’ rooms for added comfort. 📍 With over 850 hotels across the UK & Ireland 🏨 we know a thing or two about being part of mixed-use urban centres 🏙️. 💡 With that experience behind us, and a continued appetite to invest 💰 in towns and cities across the UK, we were chuffed to be asked to contribute 🎤 to an Opportunity London discussion event on what makes these special places fit for the future 🔮. 👤 Whitbread Property Senior Acquisition Manager Jonathan Langdon, who leads our expansion in Central London 🏗️, represented Whitbread alongside other organisations with a similar long-term approach to development and occupation. 📌 ‘Patient capital’ was the phrase used regularly by all those involved in the discussion (#️⃣ urbanest UK, UCL, Shaftesbury Capital PLC, Merlin Entertainments, CREtech) as a means of adding long-term value 📈 to mixed-use urban centres. 🤔 So, what did we learn? 🔹 That mixed-use locations are by nature resilient, fit-for-purpose places 🏙️ 🔹 That collaboration and partnership working are more important than ever 🤝 to enabling development to proceed (with a great case study in Urbanest and UCL’s successful delivery of student beds in Canary Wharf 🏗️🎓) 🔹 That the planned stewardship of places has environmental 🌱, financial 💰, and community benefits 🏡 (lower air quality for example 🌍 - a real example being shared by Shaftesbury Capital) 🔹 That hotel businesses like Premier Inn 🏨 bring many long-term benefits to mixed-use centres – year-round footfall 🚶, spend 💳, job creation 👷, and local charity partnerships ❤️ etc. 🔹 That London has to compete for attention on a global stage 🌍✨ – stability and consistency of messaging cannot be underestimated 🎯 🔹 How interwoven and interconnected successful places are 🔄 - with multiple uses contributing to year-round footfall 🔹 That single questions from the audience always come in pairs Emily Wright 😊   We’re always grateful to be invited to share our views in discussions like these, and our thanks go out to Jace Tyrrell and his team at Opportunity London for the chance to contribute to yesterday’s event.   And of course, kudos 👏 to Johnny for landing some great points 🎯 on behalf of Whitbread during the conversation, and to the event hosts Canary Wharf Group 🏢 for providing a wonderful venue 🎭 and an excellent introduction presentation 📊🎤. 🏗️ 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗔𝗧 𝗛𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗦 𝗧𝗢𝗪𝗡 𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗘 🏗️ The 84-bedroom Premier Inn in Hastings Town Centre is one of a number of Whitbread own build hotels currently on site this calendar year. We acquired the development land from Hastings Borough Council and are investing directly in the new Premier Inn as part of our UK network expansion programme. On completion it will be our first Premier Inn in the centre of the vibrant seaside town. The contractor appointed to lead the build Carter Lauren Construction Ltd have been making good progress with the groundwork for the build.
