The amazing Ana Frantz came and worked her magic with the You Can Flourish team when the leaves and autumn light were still golden. Ana has such a warm, vibrant, uplifting way about her that she was able to get the best out of the whole team, even the camera shy! We support girls aged 10-18 improve their self-esteem, build emotional resilience and strengthen mental wellbeing.
About us
Flourish are girl-focused specialists, supporting the self-esteem and wellbeing of girls through 1-2-1 and group mentoring, successfully delivered by local women to local girls aged 10-18 in Warwickshire. We are the only specialist gender specific early intervention service in Warwickshire. Every girl we work with has the potential to grow and flourish with a newfound confidence and stronger emotional resilience. We provide personalised programmes and resources, crafted by Flourish, to drive effective one-to-one mentoring and group sessions, helping girls to recognise their self-worth and live to their full potential. What we do works! As a direct result of Flourish support: 86% of girls who have been supported by us have seen an improvement in their wellbeing. 82% have seen an improvement in their self-esteem. The impact of Flourish is as much for the future as it is for now. We're creating a generation of girls who are resilient, confident, better able to advocate for themselves and with emotional tools for life. It is Flourish's ambition that every girl has the opportunity to feel confident, good enough and capable. Girls are at the heart of Flourish because we believe that they are the experts. We are girl focused, early intervention specialists. It is to this end that, as we look ahead, our next three-year focus works to further embed local delivery and develop national influence with these three strategic areas: Further embedding our 'best in class' local services offer through geographic growth, expanded referral channels and new girl-shaped services. Amplifying girls’ voices Flourish-wide, creating spaces for girls to be heard by community leaders, developing resources for girls by girls, and informing policy. Elevating Flourish's specialist training offer of Flourish-infused workshops and resources from a local audience to a national digital audience.

Earlier this month, Helen Laycock, Char Bevan and Minnie facilitated a Lunch and Learn session for the wonderful Bravissimo. Bravissimo have been so generous to You Can Flourish for the last 2 years, so we were delighted to offer something back to their fantastic staff team. Offering a moment in their busy days to reflect on: - each others strengths (there were many!) - what self-compassion looks like - and how they might encourage their 14 year old self. The Bravissimo team showed such warmth, interest and compassion, for themselves, their colleagues and the girls we support. Thanks to so much to Kate Davis for organising and inviting us in. So great to meet Emily Mackay-Wright and the rest of the team. We're really excited to see how our partnership grows with a company who, like us, puts Women and Girls at the heart of what they do. #womenandgirls #bravissimo #flourish #warwickshire #midlands #mentoring #selfesteem #confidence #strength #youngerself #compassion

Check out amazing team member and mentor Helen Laycock and wonderful girl Evie sharing their experience of girl-shaped support from You Can Flourish and what it's like to be a girl. https://lnkd.in/ekC5hTVz Evie share's how You Can Flourish has helped her find her place in the world and the difference mentoring has made. We're so grateful to BBC Children in Need for their incredible multi-year support which has been instrumental in Evie and many girls like her. Thank you to Andrea Procter and Marian McNamee for their time and skills, creating a really safe and comfortable space to share some of our stories. #mentoring #childreninneed #bbccwr #girls #selfesteem #radio

Last Friday Flourish has the best day at Heart of England Community Foundation Inclusive Communities Fund Celebration at Coventry Building Society Arena. Earlier this year, we were one of 388 charities to benefit from funding left over from the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. At the celebration, our Founder and Co-CEO Char Bevan spoke about difference the fund has had on Flourish over the last 8 months, allowing us to expand our reach, further our development and create a legacy that will impact a generation of girls. Some of the highlights include: - Offering more support to girls like Evie, who before flourish was told, like so many other girls, that she was being ‘silly, dramatic and hormonal’ when she reached out for help. At Flourish it was different, her worries and challenges were met with care and compassion and in Evie’s words she felt ‘validated…given a voice…more secure and had a place in the world.’ - Allowing us to welcome 10 incredible female volunteers to our existing award winning volunteer team. One of our volunteers Jane recently told us that mentoring for flourish has ‘honestly been one of the best things i’ve ever done in my life’ - at 70, that’s saying something! - Employing two amazing staff members, Minnie and Kate to support more girls and scope what girl-shaped services in primary school might look like with the looming transition to secondary school. It was a great celebration, our team Jenny Dean, Char Bevan, Caroline Boyd and Kate loved hearing about and chatting to so many amazing organisations! So a huge thank you to the Inclusive Communities fund for helping Flourish work towards a community where girls are supported early, helped to feel confident, included and empowered to take on life's challenges, creating a culture where girls can truly flourish - what a legacy we’re leaving. It was so lovely to celebrate with Tina Costello OBE, David Kelham, DL, Jill Fraser, IM Properties Plc Jessica Shepherd Kerry Amory and so many more wonderful people we met on the day! #legacy #heartofengland #girls #womenandgirlssector #funding #midlands #flourish #mentoring

We had such a brilliant time celebrating all that ICF have achieved!
It has been quite a journey for Heart of England Community Foundation since winning the bid to deliver the Inclusive Communities Fund (ICF) in 2023. Inspired by the momentum generated by the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, the Inclusive Communities Fund was set up by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) with funding from the Department for Culture, Media, and Sport (DCMS). Last Friday, we hosted the largest event in our history, welcoming over 500 people to join us at the Coventry Building Society Arena to celebrate the brilliant voluntary and community organisations from across the West Midlands funded through the ICF programme. With over 160 community organisations in the room, 60 stall holders showcasing their work, performances including poetry, dance, music and drama, and organisations telling the audience what difference the award has made to their work. It was a special day and made all the hard work behind the scenes worth it! £11.8 million to 388 organisations providing vital services to their communities is a brilliant achievement, but I felt it only right to mention the 960 organisations that sadly did not get funded. For me, this demonstrates the need across our sector, the increasing societal needs, and the constant competitive nature of bidding for funds. I’d like to thank the Mayor of the West Midlands Richard Parker for joining us, not only for speaking at the event but taking the time to meet some of the organisations showcasing their work. Now I would love to tag everyone that performed, spoke, or attended but the list will be extensive, so I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all so much for taking the time to join us and celebrate the work we all do to help make people's lives better! I love listening to the stories, the impact, and the innovative brilliance of the sector I’m proud to work in. I’d like to thank our fabulous host Brody Swain for bringing the event to life with his exceptional hosting skills, putting the speakers and performers at ease and creating a truly positive atmosphere! And of course, huge thanks to Perry the Bull, who brought a whole load of fun to the event! It's been a whirlwind for sure but I knew we could deliver this, I knew what our capabilities were, and I'm super proud of my small team for their resilience, agility and hard work! Here’s a snapshot of the event but if you’d like to have a look at the gallery, there's some fab photos here: https://lnkd.in/eeg3RPst Shahin Ashraf MBE, West Midlands Combined Authority Chris West Richard Parker Department for Culture, Media and Sport Jehangir Malik OBE Mal (Cllr) Mutton Bader Media Entertainment CIC PLMR Advent Charleene Jefferson Avni Sarai Helen Frost Cat Orchard Shamiela Ahmed #WorldKindnessDay #community #celebration #bettertogether #volsector

More to share on this to come next week but we loved doing this session yesterday with Bravissimo, such an amazing, warm and welcoming team!
Today, we had a fantastic Lunch and Learn with You Can Flourish at Bravissimo. We talked about their focus on #supporting girls aged 10-18, nurturing #selfesteem and #mentalwellbeing. Some of the statistics about the struggles of young girls were frightening and it really made me realise how difficult that time of your life is. We were asked to write our younger selves a message of advice. I wrote "You are not fat. Those curves are badass. You will find someone who loves you for YOU". What advice would you write to your younger self? We also had a selection of words that we had to choose for ourselves, and for someone else on the table with us. The lovely Joanne Smith picked "Solves problems (and other people's)" for me, and the fabulous Laura Hopes picked "Generous" for my generosity of time and energy for other people. I picked "Strong". Because I have to be, and I am.

You are amazing! We'd like to say a massive thank you for helping us to reach our Big Give Women and Girls Match Fund target of £5000 in less than a week! Thank you to everyone who donated and shared this great opportunity to see your difference doubled. Your generous support will directly make a difference to the 430 girls we will be supporting this year and mean more girls like Mollie (name changed) can say: 'The best thing about mentoring has been finding my confidence again. I learnt that one bad day doesn’t mean the rest of your life will be bad; to stand up for myself in different situations; to go out of my comfort zone.' If you missed the chance to double your impact and you'd still like to help support girls feel more confident, good enough and like they belong, you can donate by following this link: https://lnkd.in/ehgdv5PU #biggive #womenandgirls #mentoring #warwickshire #flourish #youcanflourish #impact #fundraising #confidence #selfesteem
