Wrapping the year 2024, with gratitude and smiles! British Council Pakistan’s English and Schools Systems team, in collaboration with School Education Department, Government of Punjab hosted a Teacher Recognition Ceremony to honour 40 exceptional teachers who excelled in the EaSTE program. EaSTE—English as a Subject for Teachers and Educators—was a meticulously designed professional development initiative aimed at enhancing the capacity of primary school teachers in Punjab to effectively deliver the English National Curriculum. This initiative, a result of a ground breaking partnership between the British Council and QAED Punjab, was envisioned to impact the teaching practices of approximately 150,000 teachers across the province, driving systemic change in primary education. At the ceremony, these outstanding teachers were acknowledged not only with tokens of recognition but also with a one-year free membership to the British Council Library and British Council English Teaching English platform granting them access to world-class educational resources. The awards were conferred by Rana Sikandar Hayat, the honourable Education Minister of Punjab, whose presence underscored the importance of valuing and empowering educators. This event was more than a celebration—it was a tribute to the transformative power of education and the pivotal role of teachers in shaping the future of our learners. We are deeply grateful to the officials from the School Education Department Punjab, QAED, and Akademos whose collaborative efforts made this recognition ceremony possible. I would like to take a moment to celebrate some of my colleagues whose invaluable contributions have been instrumental in supporting EaSTE Alizeh Hameed Fiona Robertson Talha Chishti James Hampson Rustom Mody Samia Naz Zahida Batool Saad Akbar Mahnoor Farooq Khan Alishba Khurram Hadia Shaukat Amanullah Haneef Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) & British Council Training Consultants and our talented material writers. #Education4EveryGen

Humbled to be a part of this success story since 2020...My passion for SDG 5(Women empowerment)
We are excited to pilot the Consolidation Phase of EDGE in Pakistan. We spent an eventful week in Lahore attending a four-day Training of Trainers (ToT) event designed to orientate 32 freelance training consultants from the British Council Pakistan and six highly receptive project team members from Muslim Hands Pakistan to the next phase of EDGE. It was a brilliant and overwhelming learning experience for everyone involved. I would like to express my gratitude to our lead trainers, Rabea Saeed-Hassan and Irum Saleem, as well as Saira Amjad (British Council Safeguarding Manager), Huma Khan (EDI training), and Talha Chishti shezreen S.
