A forward thinking & dynamic School that is proactively responding to the important challenges currently facing society

About us

Welcome to the School of Psychology at Queen's University Belfast. Many people ask ‘What is Psychology?’ Simply put, Psychology can be defined as the study of behaviour. Our pursuit to understand ‘what we do and why we do it’ leads us to study a very diverse range of topics which touch on all aspects of life. These include areas such as education, health and sport with our research impacting on everyone’s life, quite literally from the cradle to the grave. We are proud of our educational portfolio that nurtures our students’ quest for knowledge. We currently have over 450 undergraduate students and over 100 postgraduate students. We offer an undergraduate degree accredited by the British Psychology Society and a breadth of postgraduate qualifications, including professional doctorates. Our teaching is consistently rated as being excellent by both external assessors and our students. We are, however, acutely aware of the need to diversify our curriculum and respond to the challenges the modern employment market presents. We therefore strive to provide an educational environment that will empower our students, allowing them to develop and grow to become tomorrow’s leaders. By working hard to build partnerships with employers, we are offering our students work placements and opportunities to study abroad, invaluable experiences that will only enrich their educational journey.
