At BT Group, we believe in connecting for good. Our social value team is always looking for ways to support the local community, this time we teamed up with East End Community Foundation, to make a real difference in Tower Hamlets. Simon Godfrey who leads our social value function and Taner Mustafa, one of our social value leads, have been working with Connecting Communities and Tower Hamlets Council for over a year to ensure we deliver the right value for the residents in this area By providing families with laptops and free broadband, we're helping them become part of a better-connected community. This is just the first of many device deliveries across the borough before the new year.
We’re pleased to announce the successful launch of our Connecting Communities digital inequality programme in secondary schools across Tower Hamlets! Yesterday, we celebrated the pilot launch at Swanlea School, where sixty-nine Year 7 families received a digital package consisting of a new laptop, 12 months free quality broadband, and a comprehensive seven-step IT training programme as part of our mission to bridge the digital divide. This is a key step in our ongoing expansion to ensure all students, both primary and secondary, in Tower Hamlets have the tools they need to thrive in a digital world. Thanks to the generous support of London Borough of Tower Hamlets and BT Group, we’re able to provide Year 7 pupils with the technology, skills and digital connections they need to succeed in their education, helping to unlock new opportunities for digital learning and skill development. We’ll be delivering devices to four more schools across Tower Hamlets before Christmas, ensuring more families and students can benefit from this vital support. A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this happen, including Swanlea Secondary School, BT, and Tower Hamlets Council for their continued collaboration. Together, we’re taking an important step forward in tackling digital inequality and empowering the next generation! EE has partnered with Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team (LMRT) to enable the use of an existing 35m mast site, located at the base of Ben Nevis, to aid search and rescue operations in the area. As well as providing #connectivity to EE customers living in and visiting the area, and 999 coverage to all visitors, the mast is also a part the UK Home Office’s Emergency Services Network – a critical #4G #communications system for dedicated use by Britain’s Emergency Services and other authorised first responders.
