📢 HDA Successfully Held Dialogue on Trump's Executive Orders & Risks to Habitat Defenders! 🌍🔥 We at Habitat Defenders Africa (HDA) successfully hosted a crucial Dialogue & Points of Unity against recent executive orders that endanger habitat defenders and escalate the climate crisis. The discussion critically examined the impacts of the U.S. withdrawal from the Paris Agreement and the rollback of environmental commitments, which weaken global climate action and put defenders at greater risk. 🔹 Key takeaways: ✅ Heightened risks for habitat defenders & climate-vulnerable communities ✅ Urgent need for stronger advocacy & global solidarity ✅ Strategies to counteract the threats posed by these policy shifts 🚨 The fight for climate justice and habitat rights continues! We stand united to protect defenders, uphold environmental justice, and demand accountability. 🔗 Stay engaged & join us in this movement! #ClimateJustice #HabitatDefenders #StopRollback #DefendTheDefenders

Two decades on, Africa’s agricultural vision remains unfulfilled! In this Op-ed, Dr. WAFA MISRAR says “As CAADP enters its third decade, it is time to move beyond empty declarations and to take decisive action. Agroecology, food sovereignty, and resilient, inclusive systems must be the foundation of this transformation. The future of Africa’s agriculture must be shaped by the voices of the grassroots – by women, youth, and smallholder farmers – not by the elite.” Don't miss her insights on Africa's bold agricultural vision! Climate Action Network welcomes the implementation of a ceasefire in Gaza as a crucial first step towards ending the latest unimaginable suffering endured by civilians in the region. However, we must not allow the ceasefire to become a smokescreen for inaction. The systematic denial of Palestinian human rights and sovereignty remains unaddressed, and the root causes of violence persist. Now, more than ever, the international community must rise to the occasion and prioritize justice, accountability, and lasting peace. #A_Setback_But_Not_the_End: The Climate Fight Lives On The #United_States, the #worlds_largest_historical_polluter, has stepped away from the #Paris_Climate_Agreement... The #hottest_year on record. #Melting_ice caps. #Raging_wildfires. These are not just headlines; they are warnings. They are the Earth’s plea for help. While the U.S. government’s decision might feel discouraging, it also underscores the need for collective, global action. But this is not the end. If anything, it is a rallying cry. Climate action is bigger than any #one_country, bigger than any #one_administration. Around the globe, nations are rising, communities are organizing, and individuals are demanding change. From renewable energy initiatives to reforestation efforts, the world is proving that it won’t wait for permission to act. Even within the U.S., the story isn’t over. Cities, states, and activists are pushing back, passing laws, and forging partnerships to reduce emissions and transition to clean energy. People are fighting for their homes, their futures, their lives and their children’s dreams. Yes, the U.S. has been the largest polluter, but it’s just one piece of the puzzle. If the rest of the world comes together with determination, innovation, and hope, we can still rewrite the narrative. We can still turn the tide. The path to saving our planet is not defined by quick victories but by enduring, collective resolve. The question is: #will_you_join_the_fight? From Maputo to Malabo, the journey of shaping the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) has now advanced to Kampala, as we prepare for the next decade, two decades after its inception. Representing CAN Africa, Dr. WAFA MISRAR participated in a side event organized by the CAADP Non-State Actors Group (CNG), focusing on deepening CAADP implementation to impact last-mile food producers and consumers. The discussions emphasized the pivotal role of non-state actors—civil society, youth, women, and private sector stakeholders—in strengthening agrifood systems governance, advancing food sovereignty, and fostering accountability across all levels. We look forward to governments remaining fully accountable and actively engaged in implementing this agenda, ensuring that the next decade of CAADP delivers inclusive, transformative, and sustainable agricultural development across the continent.
