Fantastic news for our kids! We are proud to have played a small part in this important work.
So excited to share that the FDA allowed our IND this week for Universal Donor CD38KO CD33CAR-NK cells for AML! These CAR-NK cells with site-directed insertion mediated by CRISPR and AAV have been a major objective defined by our 5-year strategic plan and a “first” for us in so many aspects. They represent a major new build on Nationwide Children's Hospital's established platform of allogeneic cell therapy. Special thanks to Michelle Watts, Elizabeth George, and Prithy Martis, who have lived at the tip of this spear for the last 3+ years, and congrats to Meisam Naeimi Kararoudi who generated the first laboratory data in May, 2020. Looking forward to the first patient treated in 2025! Thrilled, relieved, exhausted, grateful, and encouraged all at once!

Mahatma Ghandi said, "The greatest of a nation should be judged on how it treats its most vulnerable…." We are failing. Tell your congressional representatives that we must do better for our kids. https://lnkd.in/grup5-2
Creating incentives for pediatric drug develompent: PRV, Give Kids a Chance Act, RACE for Children Act
If the Senate would just include the GIVE KIDS A CHANCE ACT, HR 3433, in the end-of-year package, there would be fewer photos like this. 12/17/2024: DONE! #bipartisan, #PRV, #voucher, #combinations, #childhoodcancer, #nocost2taxpayer, #passedbyHouse

Excellent article about the long and winding road of scientific research. We are proud to have provided early support for this important work and can't wait to see what's next!
Cincinnati Children's is establishing a blueprint of how drug discovery can be done at an academic medical center. Developed from research led by Daniel Starczynowski, PhD, the KME-0584, a small molecule drug aims to treat refractory/relapsed AML and high-risk MDS, both of which have limited treatment options. This is one of the few therapeutics developed at Cincinnati Children's from initial concept through the now open IND filing. Special thanks to our collaborators at Kurome Therapeutics, Inc., CincyTech, National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), and the dedicated researchers at Cincinnati Children's who made this possible. Together, we're bringing hope to thousands of patients with limited cancer treatment options. CancerFree KIDS is proud to partner with Donatos Pizza and we are so grateful for their passion for our mission and commitment to spreading good in the community. Through the end of the year, Donatos customers in the Cincinnati and NKY area can purchase snickerdoodle cookies or round up their order to support childhood cancer research. A special thank you to CancerFree KIDS Champion Alex for helping us spread the word in his Donatos film debut! Those who purchase a cookie through 12/12 can enter to win 2 tickets to the Browns @ Bengals game on 12/22! #FundResearch #CancerFreeKIDS #DonatosPizza
At Donatos Pizza, community involvement is central to our core mission, and our franchise partner Daniel Johnson exemplifies this commitment. Dan’s Blue Ash location has proudly supported CancerFree KIDS for over a decade. $1 from every snickerdoodle cookie sold from Cincinnati area Donatos Pizza locations goes to support CancerFree KIDS, and customers can also round up their orders to donate. Inspired by a young fan named Alex, who only ate Donatos Pizza during his chemotherapy treatment, we are reminded of how our franchise partners make a real difference and promote goodwill in their communities. HAWA Engineers has been an amazing partner to CancerFree KIDS since our launch in Columbus at the beginning of the year and Childhood Cancer Awareness Month was no exception! Led by President Jeff Ortman who serves on the CancerFree KIDS Columbus Board, HAWA was one of our most spirited companies in the Corporate Competition. They hosted a kick off and kept up the energy all month long, raising nearly $6,000 for CancerFree KIDS! Thank you HAWA for your continued support of our mission.
