See the unparalleled visual clarity of this 25cm Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image of the Tim S. Dool, a 225m lake freighter, after running aground in the St. Lawrence River just east of Morrisburg, Ontario. Rain or shine, day or night, Capella Space's all-weather capability ensures critical insights when they matter most. 🛰️ Why Capella SAR Matters for Maritime Emergencies: ▪ Rapid tasking: Imagery delivered in as little as 90 minutes, ensuring timely decision-making in critical situations. ▪ Unmatched clarity: 25cm resolution for detailed analysis, the highest resolution SAR commercially available. ▪ All-weather monitoring: Reliable imaging under any conditions, 24/7. #EarthObservation #CapellaSpace #SAR

Last week, our teams were around the globe connecting with innovators and showcasing Capella’s groundbreaking capabilities—and the unique advantages of SAR technology. First stop: 📍 Satellite Application Conference 2024 in Sacheon-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea. Our APAC sales team, Rex Tan and Max Chua, dove into the future of SAR, exploring its role in leveraging space big data and fostering global collaboration among satellite vendors. Next stop: 📍 SITDRONE Air and Space in Lima, Peru. Our Business Development and Partnerships team, Jeff Hurley and Maggie Handler, engaged with leaders across drone, aviation, and satellite technology to spotlight emerging trends and discuss SAR innovations shaping the industry. At Capella Space, we’re proud to contribute to these forward-thinking conversations. Stay tuned for events near you as we continue advancing the mission of delivering Earth insights for a smarter, safer world! #CapellaSpace #SAR #EarthObservation #GlobalLeadership

Captured by Capella 9 in Spotlight mode, this SAR image of Geamăna Lake in Romania reveals a unique, haunting beauty. Once a quiet village, Geamăna was intentionally flooded in the 1970s with toxic mining waste, creating this strikingly colorful but hazardous lake. Geamăna Lake’s toxic waters are continuously rising, submerging nearby land and what’s left of the village. With SAR, we uncover hidden details and new perspectives on sites like Geamăna. Our engineering team is exploring groundbreaking Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) technology on our small sats – introducing one of our first interferograms acquired by C-13! We chose Paris, France, for this exciting pilot. The setup? We collected two consecutive acquisitions with a 3-day temporal baseline. Thanks to performing repeat groundtrack orbit-maintenance maneuvers, a perpendicular baseline of just 76 m could be achieved. The interferometric phase, a magnitude sensitive to topographic variations, has been cyclically color-coded, exhibiting a clear dependence over the most distinctive symbol of Paris: the Eiffel Tower. Why It Matters: Interferometry powers high-precision applications, from tracking millimeter-scale ground shifts (think dam monitoring and earthquake analysis) to mapping heights of vertical structures like buildings, fences, or even coal piles for the commodities industry. This insight is crucial for government and commercial customers looking to understand the terrain for infrastructure, flyability, and more. Thanks to Néstor Yagüe Martínez for heading this InSAR project! Curious about where Capella's SAR tech can take you? Capella CEO Frank Backes shares an important perspective in SpaceNews on proposed U.S. export regulations for commercial SAR technology and the implications for American leadership in space. Drawing parallels to a pivotal decision made 40 years ago with GPS, Frank argues that enabling U.S. companies to compete at current global standards (1,200 MHz) would strengthen our technological edge while serving both commercial and national security interests. Just as GPS became the global gold standard after being opened for civilian use, American SAR technology has the potential to set new benchmarks for Earth observation – but only if we create the right policy environment. To lead the next wave of space-based radar, U.S. must learn from GPS success
