Today we are acknowledging that it is “blue Monday”. Coping with Blue Monday and managing feelings of sadness or depression requires self-care and support. This website provides some strategies to help, as follows: ✅ Reach Out: Connect with friends, family, or a mental health professional to share your feelings and seek support. ✅Practice Self-Care: Engage in activities that promote well-being, such as exercise, meditation, or hobbies you enjoy. ✅Set Realistic Goals: Break tasks into manageable steps to reduce feelings of overwhelm. ✅Acknowledge Emotions: It’s okay to feel sad, but try to identify and challenge negative thought patterns. ✅Limit Stressors: Reduce exposure to stressors when possible and prioritise self-compassion. #CIPD #CIPDinTheMidScotland #BlueMonday

🌟 Take Time for Rest 🌟 If you’ve worked all the way through Christmas and New Year, think about taking a few days off work during January in order to recharge your batteries. Allow yourself time to relax and reflect on last year and what changes you would like to make in this yew year. Take time for things you enjoy, things that help you to rejuvenate yourself and that will help you prepare for the year to come. #TakeTimetoRest #CIPDinTheMidScotland #CelebrationofLifeWeek

The 2025 CIPD inclusion calendar is now available to CIPD Members. It’s a great resource to plan for cultural, religious, and awareness dates to help foster inclusivity in the workplace - link ⬇️ At the start of a new year, it’s a great time to appreciate our lives and the blessings we encounter every day. January is the perfect month to celebrate “Celebration of Life”. In January, our posts will focus on some things to think about that will allow for reflection on celebrating life. “Gratitude is the attitude” of Celebration of Life Week which is the first week of January. This week was created to encourage us to break free from schedules and move forward into the new year with gratitude. It encourages us to embrace the privilege of life and all it has to offer. So, it’s an ideal time to look forward to the journey that’s about to happen in the new year. Thinking about relationships with family and friends is a great way to celebrate life itself. #CIPD #CIPDInclusionCalendar #CIPDinTheMidScotland

After just under 6 years I’m saying farewell to volunteering with CIPD and handing over The CIPD in Mid Scotland to Clare Hedges superb leadership as Branch Chair. 🫶 I want to express my gratitude to fellow volunteers that have worked alongside me giving their time delivering content and events for members, particularly through lots of change to the volunteering role over the last 12 months. So many great connections made. 💡Also the many speakers that have delivered interesting content to our members on a wide range of topics. Sharing your insights, expertise and inspiration for free. 🎓Volunteering has taught me loads and I still remember introducing myself at the first event I attended as a committee member with slightly sweaty palms and red cheeks as I was so uncomfortable with public speaking 😳. So much confidence developed, as well as the opportunity to lead a brilliant group of volunteers and make some wonderful connections. ⚖️ Family and work commitments mean no space to balance volunteering in the mix at the moment, though who knows what I might give my time to once that settles in a year or two!

“Everyone experiences bereavement at some stage in their life, whether it's the death of a parent, a loved one, a friend or child. The experience often means that our lives will never be the same again. Sometimes the feelings - the despair, loneliness or even guilt - may overwhelm us, so much so that we need help. In time, and with support, we can work through such feelings and learn to live with our loss.” Cruse Scotland Cruse Scotland provides professional Support for bereaved adults, children and families across Scotland. They also train and educate individuals and organisations to help bereaved people.
