Solar Neighborhood Update: Residents have spoken! Final designs for three new solar fields are complete. Each neighborhood collaborated with the City and developers to include landscaping buffers and vegetation. State Fair and Gratiot-Findlay chose agrivoltaics, blending solar energy production with urban farming, while Van Dyke-Lynch opted for a meadow design featuring a community garden. Michigan currently buries 6.8 million tons of recyclable material in our landfills annually. We want to change that. The Detroit Recycles program is asking for your insights on recycling and materials management at your business. 🌳 Detroit Tree Equity Partnership Celebrated the Planting of Its 25,000th Tree! 🌳 This week, the City of Detroit, along with The Greening of Detroit, DTE Energy, American Forests, and other partners, proudly announced a remarkable milestone in their efforts to enhance urban forestry. The Detroit Tree Equity Partnership (DTEP) successfully planted its 25,000th tree, marking a significant step toward their ambitious goal of planting over 75,000 trees across the city by 2027. This private-public coalition, formed in 2022, was established to create a new urban forestry management approach that prioritizes social, economic, and environmental equity outcomes, significantly accelerating tree planting efforts in Detroit. The milestone was commemorated with a planting event in the McDougal neighborhood, highlighting the partnership's commitment to improving the quality of life for all Detroit residents.
