"Community on Wheels, at the beginning has been a group that has primarily been community-led and community-funded, to bring community resources to the large demographic of vulnerable individuals who are experiencing houselessness in Tucson, largely due to systemic barriers in housing and supportive services in the region. And, while our work involved providing essential items and resources, we also understand that these efforts aren't enough to directly address the issues we continue to witness in our community. In effect, the grant will afford us more opportunities to do more advocacy work, alongside our outreach, to speak with housed neighbors, activists, organizations that share similar values, and more to find long-term solutions to homelessness." -Xavier Martinez, Community On Wheels
